First off, let me say that I am a moderate Democrat coming from a strongly Democratic immediate family. My extended family, by virtue of being in the
military and in a "red" state, is somewhat conservative. Lol, family get-togethers are sure fun!
But, I like talking about politics. And, I appreciate speaking to people from many different political persuasions without bickering. So, I believe
that you have a right to your opinion as I do mine.
About the political party question: I believe that both the Dems and the Republicans would not allow others to splinter off because the ties are too
deeply ingrained. Corporate ties also are in bed with these bonds, so it would make splintering off even harder. But I also agree that they have
lost touch with average United States citizens. And I don't know what they need to do to get everyday people back into the fold. I am still
searching for that answer.
So, change has to come from the outside. But, I would think that this party is centrist in nature. And I also agree that key issues would have to form
this new party.
1: Immigration. No matter where people sit on this issue, this subject is
one that has affected a lot of people. There has to be a common sense
policy in place that helps national security, but also provide a fair way
for people to come here.
2: Economy: Although people like to keep the money that they earn, there
also has to be something to help working people. The sad state of affairs
is that the cost of living is too high for the average employed American.
Tax cuts are not going to solve all problems. The national debt has to be
reduced as well. I also believe that money should be given to NASA and
JPL for space exploration and development.
3: National security. International relations must be repaired. That must
be done to reduce the need to have war. If a war must be fought, it
should be done for the right reasons. For terrorism to be stopped,
it must be done right. Terrorists do not come from a single country.
Instead, there must be cooperation internationally for these attacks to stop.
That's as far as I've thought about a new political party so far. But it's a start.
