FEMA Critic Gets Ticket

A man left homeless and unemployed by Katrina is given a $75 ticket for giving away a t-shirt with a slogan critical of FEMA. The t-shirt said, "Flooded by Katrina! Forgotten by FEMA! What's Next, Mr. Bush?".



America the place where abuse of citizens by government never stops. I really disliked the Clinton white house, but this administration makes the Clintion years seem like the good old days.

He was cited by a group of Homeland Security officials for selling a T-shirt on federal property — in this case, near a FEMA center in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart in Chalmette, La. ...Barisich, 49, says he didn't sell the shirt, which said: "Flooded by Katrina! Forgotten by FEMA! What's Next, Mr. Bush?" He says he gave it away.

The government is sticking to its guns. "If we ignored this violation, you could have potentially 20 to 30 people standing out in front of the (FEMA) center, obstructing things," says Dean Boyd, a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) spokesman. "We've got a duty and a job under the law."

what did they do, sieze the title to the wal-mart parking lot and now it's government property??

and well, if I did happen to be on government property, and you came up to me and aked me for something, let's say one of the candy bars I was holding in my hand, and I gave it to you, would I be fined?

I think they're stretching the laws just a tad, aren't they?

The third shift leadman had a shirt that said "I see stupid people" tonight. I find that shirt just as appropriate for a news article.
Mardi Gras floats and people blasting Bush and the administration, but did they give the same crap to teh state and local governments - the governments who are actually responsible for such actions and duties? I wonder if they ever considered how they'd feel if the response was more as it should have been.

Such a victim mentality is NOT across the board along the Gulf Coast, I assure you, sothey areally should not even use that term.
