My apologies if already covered:

Why is the main www.abovetopsecret.com... showing a black window over the majority of the page?

When I log in to ATS, everything seems ok?

Sorry, it works for me

Hmmm? Strange, cause I just now came across another thread on this exact issue.

I have tried Opera, Firefox also and seems to be something else entirely. I seriously doubt it is a mere coincidence that it only works when I'm logged in to ATS?

I am having the same problem. It only shows the top few forums, and the bottom sections are all blacked out. I login and it is fine

I/m using netscape, because using IE, makes it so visiting other websites, all their images turn into black ATS hotlinking images.. Or I go to any other site, and get redirected to ATS instead

I am logged in via a proxy and it works from here but not from several other places. Certain regions are blocked by srcipt - the admins should look into this right away.

Everything is working ok for me.

Somebody else was having some speed issues too. I posted this there:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

Bottom line is make sure your system is properly protected and is running clean before you blame the site. The link above outlines some steps.

Checked out the link thanks. My system is is clean and I always do all those tips anyways.

The blackout thing began today for me.

I think it's an ATS script error - depending which area (based on IP origination) we are from.

If it were a problem with our PC (script, spyware etc), then how come I cannot view the forum until only after I login? Also when proxying through an Ohio-based IP, I can see everything ok, even if I have NOT logged in.

If my ISP were blocking access, than this entire site would be unavailable so I do suspect the trouble is ATS.

I think you are right about the script error, but why a black screen? If anything you should get misaligned text or meaningless html code. The only time I have ever seen my screen blank out before my eyes is when I had a trojan and someone co-opted my computer so I could not see what they were doing. Same thing happens when on a network and the administrator fixes something for you while in his office. But a partial block is probably an add that has gone berzerk and has lost its boundries.

Make sure your browser font settings are correct for your region or try a normal one like Western IBM or something like that. Make sure the font sizes are reasonable for the screen, etc. Otherwise, update or reinstall your browser.

It has to be an advertisment script error.

Hi dogberts not,

Thanks - I should have been more clear and I think your bang on about it being a misaligned text or meaningless html code. The screen is not all black but the text is misaligned and I also get the html error. Same with Opera, Firefox etc.

Strange how several others are also having a similar issue.

I was having that problem with MSNBC.com the other day. Two reasons. My service is 56kbps wireless and it just poops out now and then and the other was that I had a font set that was incompatible with the site for some reason. In Firefox I can choose from dozens. I picked the Western Apple standard and that worked. It took a while to sort it out. Strange.

Could someone take a screen shot of this problem?

I can't reproduce it on any of the browsers I have.

Could you try again?, I've altered some code.

It's fine now at my end.

EDIT: I'm using Safari.
