The Forgotten September 11th Tragedy

September 11th, 1973

Military forces being led by General Augusto Pinochet commence bombardment of the Chilean Presidential Palace, where Presidente Allende makes his final farewell speech to the Chilean people. Presumeably he then committed suicide with a machine gun given to him by none other than Fidel Castro himself. The liberation of Chile from the impending socialist regime was final, and democracy would once again reign free in Chile.

But that wasn't the case.

Rule under General Pinochet was a brutal and horrifying existence. Public executions and beatings in the streets of Santiago were common place, to quell any thoughts of rebellion. My mother has told me stories which to this day make her weep. She lived through this time as a teenager, coming close to being captured by several of Pinochets death squads solely because my Grand father had spoken out against the great General prior to the coup.

She told me stories of her trips to school, on which she often was forced to ride one of the family horses or even pack mules because cars were often seized for military purposes or frivolous charges. One of her trips, while crossing a local river, was quite tragic and hard for even me to hear, but to make it short, it entailed her watching the bodies of several people she once knew floating slowly down the stream, obviously executed earlier in the morning up in the mountains and thrown into the river to be forgotten.

Why is the United States so quick to forget the tragedies that it has inflicted on others? You may wonder how the US was involved, and I will do my best to answer this question.

The CIAs step by step process to liberating the poor opressed people of Chile from the big bad socialist regime. While US military involvement was nil, the mere fact that Pinochets actions were approved and for the most part modeled after US suggestions sickens me.

The trials of Henry Kissinger

This is a great documentary for those interested in learning more about the Chilean military coup, but especially for the other horrible things Kissinger is connected too, and has approved of. US involvement is very extensive, and almost always results in something horrible.

Is this a conspiracy? I don't make it out to be one, because it is a known fact. Is it a cover-up? It most certainly is, and I hope more people take it upon themselves to learn more and see what the US has done in the name of "Democracy". I'll leave you this short excerpt of a conversation between Nixon and Kissinger regarding the Chilean situation:

Nixon: Nothing new of any importance or is there?
Kissinger: Nothing of very great consequence. The Chilean thing is getting consolidated and of course the newspapers are bleeding because a pro-Communist government has been overthrown.
Nixon: Isn't that something. Isn't that something.
Kissinger: I mean instead of celebrating – in the Eisenhower period we would be heroes.
Nixon: Well we didn't – as you know – our hand doesn't show on this one though.
Kissinger: We didn't do it. I mean we helped them. [Garbled] created the conditions as great as possible.
Nixon: That is right. And that is the way it is going to be played.

A tragedy perhaps in America and the Pro-American west, but a sounding victory for Middle East and all the anti-Americans.

It proved to show how even with its military, political and economical superiority in the world currently America is still ultimately vulnerable and undoubtedly not as invincible as the Yanky fools might have thought of their own country. It certainly crippled the atmosphere of Pax Americana, US domination and costly arrogance that has been around for a long time.

Forgotten ? - Not even close I'd say . And the attacks promissed by terrorist groups for the near future will keep that sad memmory vividly alive . I am not a member of the pro-american gang , I stand against inocent people beeing harmed on any side . My guess is the character that the US plays on the global stage will continue to atract agression from different directions .

Did the last 2 posters even read the beginning post? I'm a little confused. The original thread was about Chile in 1973, nowhere does it state anything about 9-11 2001 USA.

Not misleading at all if you read the post. That's one of my biggest gripes on here. People that post a response without even reading the thread or the initial post. Cmon people...read first, post second.

i have a problem with people not reading the entire post, the first two didnt even read the first line

anyway, that is quiet the tragedy, but if you could kind of sum up what you think the conspiracy is. like i understand that the US gave many suggestions, but why? thats what i didnt understand. how did they benefit. was it like a set up where they make this brutal dictatorship just so they can overthrow it and wave the american flag saying "look at us! we fight for freedom!" ya know, secretly sets it up so they can show the world how great they are. whats your view of their reason for doing this?

Ya, dont forget, CIA is the reason why the Baath party and Saddam were running Iraq.

And Also the CIA helped overthrow the democratically‑elected Mossadeq government in Iran (which had nationalized the British oil company) leading to a quarter‑century of repressive and dictatorial rule by the Shah, Mohammed Reza Pahlevi.

Dont get me wrong, there are good people in the CIA, but who ever is in charge needs to be executed. They f*** up other peoples countrys.
