Read Gary Schmitt's article on the PNAC website. Schmitt writes for the Washington Times and is also the executive director for PNAC.

In his article, "Why Iraq's Sunnis Won't Deal", dated September 13, 2005, Schmitt says the following:

"Politics cannot solve what ails Iraq now. It can help, and certainly the constitution is an important step in that direction. But at the end of the day, it's only when the so-called dead-enders are either dead or vanquished that one can count on the political process moving decisively forward as most Iraqis desire."

He's speaking of the Sunnis, basically about wiping them out so Iraq can unite and move forward. What better way to start ethnic cleansing than with a sudden massive terrorist attack on a much revered mosque, instantly blamed on the Sunnis?

Something's up. What does everyone think?

Why would they need to do this, when even before the bombing just about any intelligent commentator on Iraq was saying the country was already heading into civil war between Shiite and Sunni groups?

Sounds like it's just PNAC's way of trying to sell that state of affairs as a good thing. When Iraq actually is in civil war, PNAC and the hard-core supporters of the Iraq invasion will still be trying to pass it off as progress.

The Real Reason For The Mosque Attack?

Reason for the bombing of the Samarra holy shrine was to test how strong the shia armed militias are.

US and all other foreign forces are about to exit Iraq.

They just want to know whether the Iraqi government will be able to handle these boys.

This is a possibility: The Mosque Attack is likely to have been orchestrated by Iran in a attempt to make an offensive from the US much more complicated. Also they will be able to count on Iraqis to fight against the oppressor.

Creating a civil war in Iraq would play to the benifit of Iran and a few other countries.

No evidence to support that claim.

---------------------------------------

Let us not forget that the Isreali's played a significant role in getting the Bush administration interested in Iraq in the first place; what better way to get rid of a troublesome neighbour than to create an articial infraction (Saddam possessing and developing WMD's), on the part of the troublesome neighbour, and get the local police (the Americans) to come in and sort that neighbour out.

The Israeli's probably figured that with the Americans in Iraq and an Iran openly talking about it's right to develop nukes that they could, at some point in the future, get the US to jump on Iran for them too.

The Iranians wanted the Americans to get stuck into Iraq for the same reasons as the Israeli's - they'd be rid of a troublesome neighbour and they could help bog the Americans down in Iraq through the financial and logistical support of the Iraqi insurgent movement. Iran would also get to influence the make-up of any Iraqi government.

I wouldn't put it past the Israeli's to have had a hand in this recent spate of attacks - possibly in an attempt to keep the Americans in Iraq and on Iran's doorstep. Then again, i wouldn't put it past the Iranians to done it instead and done so for the same reason - to keep the Americans bogged down in Iraq.
