Religiously offensive cartoons must be outlawed...

It does even NOT show Muhammad at all! But the drawer has a death threat.


It needed the fabrication of truly anti-Islam cartoons by Danish imams to deliberately inciting Muslims to violence.

It is the offensive speech which needs protecting. If you outlaw offensive speech you don't have freedom of speech. You are half way to dihimmitude if you want Islam to get a special pass of things offensive to it.

I agree with the professor. Anything that offends anyone for any reason should be banned immediately and under punishment of death these new laws must be implemented immediately. Furthermore, when anyone passes a religious painting, statue or written statement about religion they must fall to their knees and face some direction demanded by any religion on earth, so that if by the time all religions have decided what direction is particularly holy, all the directions on the compass are required the passerby must spend sufficient time so as not to offend any true believer who happens by. We should also ignore the evidence that Mohammad tried Camel Train Robbery after he arrived in Mecca and fell in with a bunch of Camel Train Robbers. Apparently after two major failures the boys asked Mohammad to remain home and wax eloquently on things religious and they would resume the lucrative profession of thievery.
Either this or we could just ban the pronouncement by true believers as to what offends them and get on with life. In fact, why not ban religion altogether. That way a lot of needless killing and carnage would disappear as it would be unnecessary. We could do without every airhead telling everybody what offends them. We could also require that every religion provide a joke a week with their religious fantasy as the butt of the joke. If a religion did not make an honest effort to provide funny jokes we could just force the true believers to re-indoctrinate each other ad infinitum with each true believer lecturing all the others for eight hour a day until every true believer on earth either was re-indoctrinated or just decided to opt out of the silly mess altogether.
I’m for the second idea, but I hope we keep our humor and if our fantasies cause observers to pop funnies at us, so be it.
One more thing; I am offended by everybody assuming that they must tell us what offends them, ad infinitum.
Up with Denmark and down with intolerance.

Were is the Muslim outrage, when one of their brothers cuts the head of an innocent person. These people need to get out of the 12th century and join the real world. I agree with outlawing religions. I believe a persons faith is personal. To believe in GOD or not to believe is the indviduals choice. Whatever your choice...you have no right to impose that belief on others. Now here is where I'll be attacked. I know it, but I have to say it. Bring on more cartoons it's humor. Laugh or don't but don't resort to violence. They can burn the american flag in the streets, riot, kill, suicide bomb, maim... and they can't take a joke? Just kidding I can't say we should turn the middle east into a glass bowl there are people there that want freedom and want to smile and laugh but there are alot that don't and will do whatever they can to stop it. There isn't much we can do, I say what we do is this. Build a big friggin wall around those countries; put outposts where people who want to leave can but they have to be able to laugh at a joke

What I don't understand is the double standard. Look, entire countries (and for that matter belief systems) are being targeted for the acts of a few individuals, those being the one that created the cartoons along with those that made the call to go ahead and publish them. So in the minds of SOME Muslims, this gives them the right to condemn entire nations, commit crimes against them and demand that everyone everywhere change some of their most basic precepts of their rights (freedom of speech, etc.) for these actions that perhaps in the minds of many they are condemning may have gone to far.

Not eveyone, even the strongest defenders of freedom of speech, and certainly not everyone in these countries that are being targeted would have the bad taste, disrepect, etc., to have done what was done. But they do have the right to if they choose.

Certainly the rest of the world is expected to exercise restraint in such matters, as in, we can't condemn all Muslims (not even in the countries where massive amounts of Muslims are behaving beyond the realm of a civilized world) and we wouldn't. Simply because it's not the right thing to do, and also because after years of having political correctness drilled into our brains we wouldn't dare.

Not only is this a double standard that is being ignored, but now we have suppossedly progressive western nations where one would never expect freedom of speech to be curtailed being curtailed? (I believe there is a thread about Sweden? putting the kabash on publishing the cartoons).

It's no longer just not a two way street, things ARE being dictated in response to this mess. Perhaps a wise thing to do to protect there own people from ending up at the wrong end of this now very out of control and dangerous situation, but come on - the unreasonable ones are using fear to break us down. Where will this end?

Meanwhile, heaven forbid anyone anywhere else in the world condemn the entire Muslim faith and people over this (which would be the same as the what these particular Muslims are in fact doing).

The worst part is if the rest of the world decided to say enough of all of you Muslims, there would be a huge human rights outcry from within the nations that perpetrated it.

Again, where are the Muslims that should be curtailling their own, just as many would curtail our own if a broad sweeping condemnation of them came out of western nation? They are taking advantage of an extremely dangerous double standard that we have chosen as a civilized society to give them, and guess what - it's working.

I really think we are slowly being duped into a crisis that will erode our freedoms over time.

It's time for everyone to stand together and say grow up, learn to deal maturely with your personal offense and live in world of reality - that being - feeling offended does not a right make.

Of course, the problem being, we are well on the way to eroding this on our own just by setting the standards of polictical correctness and allowing people who feel offended to actually take it to court. The lines are getting fuzzy folks, and it's not a warm fuzzy.

It's happening, it's out there. It just doesn't get as much coverage as say...angry protestors in Pakistan or the re-release of Abu Ghraib prisoner photos.

Bad news gets more ratings. Besides, people like to get hung-up on the negative side of things.

Also we humans tend to attribute bad stuff that happens to ourselves to something external while if it happens to others, it's definitely their fault. It's a pretty natural reaction. It's called fundamental attribution error.

You need to tell me why it is that you think that because Riwka displays her flag, she cannot show support for Denmark's stance in favor of freedom of speech.
You need to tell me why only other people may pick a side.
You need to tell me why what her having an opinion has to do with the "Palestinians" choosing naziism.
