Wpc Rachel Brown is shot and seriously injured whilst trying to aprehend a burglar in the Lenton area of Nottingham early this morning.

Police said the incident occurred shortly before midnight when two officers, an experienced male officer and Rachael Bown, 25, a probation officer,
were called to a burglary in the Lenton area of Nottingham and tried to stop a man nearby.
"The suspect produced a firearm and shot one of the officers," a Nottinghamshire police spokeswoman said.

yorkshire last november.
Surely this will again raise some questions as to the Uk policy on arming officers ?
As well as a further blow to Nottinghams reputation as the UKs gun crime capital
