The future is here - well pretty soon, I have a link to a site that shows the interactive screens that were shown on the film 'Minority Report' with Tom Cruise.

I was doubtful of the immediate uses for this as I saw the video. All I saw were different programs loaded onto a system. Then during the Boston map presentation, I saw that there was indeed an OS-X style dashboard at the top of the screen and that, yes, this was hooked up to a operating system, hard drive, potentially the internet. The pictures could be drawn up, tooled around with, drafting designs could be intuitively proccessed...

That is totally awesome!!!!!!!

Any company who doesn't jump on that is probably going to lose their shirt in the near future....

unless, of course, it is EXTREMELY expensive???

... which it might be.

I doubt they will be affordable to the average joe in the near future, but time seems to be going really fast these days so i'm sure i'll have one soon enough.

I have got to get me one of these !!!

As far as affordability, remember, IBM never thought they could make computers small enough to fit inside one room let alone on a persons desk top. Now look at whats available.

I can't wait.

Is that where Steven Spielberg got the idea from the first place? After all Steven Spielberg just before making the film, hired many people to bring up ideas about the technology in the future, maybe he manage to get one of these ideas to be part of the movie.

Ha! Nice to see I'm not the only one who's mind was in the gutter
.

I'm still dumbfounded though. That was just unbelieveable.

That's really all I can say...wow.

I can't imagine what a FPS would be like on that thing, but it would definitely give games like Civ a new dimension.

Heres the deal. If they can dream it, its been done.
this whole ancient civilization is not right. We definitely had technology ages ago. So in short, yeah I see this happening already. (You wont have it until those up higher have something cooler)

DailyTech recently identified a series of patents which Apple is seeking to manage a series of "Gesture Inputs." After looking at the patent filings and this demo (complete with osX running) it seems that Apple may be significantly further along than anyone imagined. I suspect this is an indication that Apple will be releasing a new "tablet" PC in the next few years which takes advantage of these input methods.

Anyone who calls this unamazing is inherently unaware of the seriously huge hurdles the entire heuristics system of computer control has had to cross. What I am excited to see is the second generation where all 3 knuckles represent individual controls, and all 3 axes are represented for each knuckle. think about the power our fingers would wield then, each and every person would be a maestro capable of composing a symphony in nearly real time or designing a building in a single workday. Our most crippling limitation has always been the brain to paper or brain to computer file interface. if all of the sudden we can control the computer like a symphony director controls an orchestra, aka minute twitches setting of a cascade of data, it would allow us at the very least to continue moores law for another ten years.
