This guy is just someone who pissed Rove off and has been set up to take the fall. Do you really think that Rove would actually admit his mistakes? No, I am sure that he has a long line of people willing to commit hara kiri to absolve his sins... Bush is in that line too. The old line that the media is controlled by liberals is extremely worn out... and often proven to be untrue.

To be frank, it's a knee jerk reaction by the right... a pre-scripted phrase that someone spits out automatically when they hear news they don't like.

To be fair, it's as fair as the argument that all bankers are greedy, or that all cops are secretly bullies. In all these cases... the only thing we see is an unsupported stereotype used for political effect.

but they have referenced an actual event that can be verified as real or not,

thus the source is correct in this case.
