I have been curious about the physical definition of being illuminated as far as the terminoloy is used within the Freemason or Illuminati sects.

Would you please post your definition as it being physical or spiritual?

Or is an ability to communicate silently? Cordially, Ravenmock1

Mod Edit: ALL-CAP title.

Illumination means to put light upon something. Often people will say that if one has acheived illumination that one has achieved 'enlightenment'.

Illuminated is a spiritual term which describes being "enlightened". Like the "Illuminati" quite literally means "ones who are enlightened".

To put it in easier to digest form,
it means to learn, to have
something revealed to you,
to come to a conclusion about something.

After you pass the 30th degree in masonry,
you are revealed the "truth", which
ever it might be (if you reveal it to
the public you die a very long and
agonising death).

Illuminated?

White Brotherhood

That ancient collection of pure souls who maintain the highest and most sacred of sciences: White Magic or White Tantrism. It is called White due to its purity and cleanliness. This “Brotherhood” or “Lodge” includes human beings of the highest order from every race, culture, creed and religion, and of both sexes.

"Illuminati" is an Italian term for: it illuminates to you!

An Illuminati is basically one who is an Adept either from the White Lodge or from the Black Lodge!

Jesus, Buddha, Cagliostro, Saint Germaine, Goethe, Mozart, Da Vinci and many other illuminati from the white lodge have been slander by the illuminati of the black lodge.

Unquestionably, Zionism is Black Lodge. Many hypocrites from this order want to infiltrate the Revolutionary Gnostic Schools in order to boycott them!

The white lodge is given the last opportunity to all demons whether they are awakening or asleep!

Be aware, because many of these Adepts of the Black Lodge are playing games with people and posing as Masters of the White Lodge. Many of them are Mythomaniacs who have been deceived by these Adepts with misleading doctrines. They mix Gnosis with elements that Samael Aun Weor never taught.

The Gnosis of Samael Aun Weor in this Age of Aquarius is Christian Esotericism (Intuitive Kabbalah) and Buddhism, especially from Tibet.

Be aware of the Tibetan Clan of Dag Dupa because they are Black Adepts and very awaken!

For their fruits you will know these sly foxes!

Black Lodge

The diabolic intelligence which seeks to pull souls into attachment to desire-sensation and the awakening of the consciousness that is trapped within the ego.

Excerpted from The Perfect Matrimony: "From the dawn of life, a great battle has raged between the powers of Light and the powers of Darkness. The secret root of that battle lies in sex. Gods and Demons live in eternal struggle. The Gods defend the doctrine of chastity. The Demons hate chastity. In sex is found the root of the conflict between Gods and Demons... There are Masters of the Great White Lodge. There are Masters of the Great Black Lodge. There are disciples of the Great White Lodge. There are disciples of the Great Black Lodge. The disciples of the Great White Lodge know how to move consciously and positively in the Astral Body. The disciples of the Great Black Lodge also know how to travel in the Astral Body... The White Magician worships the inner Christ. The Black Magician worships Satan. This is the “I,” the me, myself, the reincarnating ego. In fact, the “I” is the specter of the threshold itself. It continually reincarnates to satisfy desires. The “I” is memory. In the “I” are all the memories of our ancient personalities. The “I” is Ahriman, Lucifer, Satan."

Enlightenment is not the process of realizing essential truth

--it is the result of a transformation and it is an absolute universal prerequisite before any human spirit can embark upon the truth-seeking leg of the common (but respective) journey.

It is achieved not by knowledge but by humility...

not by achieving personal goals but through serving and assisting each other...

it is not gained by seeking the goals of self/ego. One can never find truth if the quest is motivated by the desire to benefit one's self.

It can only come through true, non-emotional, unconditional love that is absolutely about giving (not taking) and without any partiality whatsoever.

You must empty yourself to fill another; this is how true healing takes place. This is something that is totally ethereal and is apart from all variations of physical influence.

It is a choice, never a need or a desire.

It is an action, rather than a reaction.

It is true charity (generous love); and it is something we can all give--in fact, we have no excuse to preserve self at the expense of our brethren.

'If you do not care for one another, then who will care for you?' ~ Buddhist proverb

To be illuminated, or enlightened, is to understand something. In the context of the 18th century Order of Illuminati, it referred to the embracing of the principles of the Enlightenment, and the rejection of the popular superstitions.

The "truth" is actually revealed in the First Degree.

(if you reveal it to
the public you die a very long and
agonising death).

Or be awarded the Order of Blue Friar for Outstanding Masonic Book of the Year Award, whichever you prefer.

most likely, being an illuminated person, was origionally something
that was noticible...like an aura....that very few persons radiated,
like a glow of the skin or represented by 'Halos' in middle-ages art.
being Illuminated set one apart.

then, thru time and such, the meaning of Illuminated became
changed (or corrupted) to mean lots of different things...
like; educated, learned, privy to secret knowledge, blood lineage,
elite, special and distinct from the serfs & riff-raff & beastal peoples of society at large,

theres another obscure idea about Illuminated,
it is said that innocent infants (those without disease or karmic debt)
are born with 'golden' brain cells,
but in time & thru mundane life experiences, the glow of a golden brain
dulls & loses its Illumination or radience....
eventually turning into the Grey Matter we call the adult brain.

i think this line of thought kinda stems from Tibet &/or Buddhist Traditions,
i can't recall.....ya'll google it up

Well, since I started this Thread, I still am left wondering.

I am also in agreement with illuminated as being given the truth, understanding of not all things but a general understanding but as far as a definition along the lines of the 30th degree. What is the truth?

I understand that it is the direction upon which path you will taken with this understanding of "truth" that is key. Go White Lodge or Black Lodge. Pretty simple answer to a simple understanding.

It is said that The Path of the Razor's Edge is like a snake inside a hollow tube.

There are only two directions it can go.

One has to either choose the broad path of destruction.

Or the Narrow Path that the Master Aberamentho spoke of.

This doesn't mean narrow thinking of course.

But our overall path has to be unshakable lest we fall into the abyss, due to harmful actions of body, speech and mind.

Most choose the broad path of the failure.

Some choose the Intermediate Path or Spiral Path.

And very few are those who choose and stay on the Straight Path of the Bodhisattva...

It all depends on where the word is used and how. But basically as I know it, it means to be brought out of the darkness and into the light. To illuminate a room is to give it light which it previously lacked.

Once again as with all things it can be used as good or evil, black or white.
During my Baptism the Priest stated several time that I was "illuminated" and I did think that quite odd because generally you don't hear that word being used to define being "born again."-Or atleast that was a first for me.

The "truth" is actually revealed in the First Degree.

And in the 17 th degree, the password. Or are you aware of this?

Uh...I'm assuming you're concerned with illumination from a Masonic standpoint. (According to every respectable website I've found, the illuminati no longer exists.)

Look, every level of Masonry offers "some level" of illumination. Illumination is not completed until after the 33rd level. My suggestion is get involved with the local Masons and let them know you're curious, or better yet, serious about illumation. What the heck?

The worst that can happen is your weekend calender suddenly gets filled with cook-offs and handywork for local kids. There's worse ways to spend a weekend, right?

Being in this forum I would say illuminated would be understanding God or the Devil. Bahir is the Book of Illumination which seems to be very good on the uncovering and understanding of what God is. As far as the physical feeling yes I would say there is one as well as being able to spot others that are.
