LA Writer Defends Incindeary Soldiers Comments

This is such a down for the morale and perhaps helpful to our enemies, no wonder he incensed so many readers.
So for him demean our troops is insufferable, that reached so many citizens.



There seems to be no end to the anti-soldier rhetoric since we were so proud in WW2.
Does this remind anyone of Vietnam?
Stein could have presented his views in a way that was not so public and inflammatory.

I hope he runs into a soldier on leave, in a bar one night.

Only a wuss would sit behind some desk somewhere slamming our precious men and women who serve..

PS: I wonder if he has any ancestors who were cremated in the holocaust?

I have a few things to say to this guy - as a former soldier and veteran.

First of all, I joined the US Army and served whatever administration was in office. My job was not to decide where I was stationed. My job and my duty was to serve my country without question. I served proudly and to the best of my ability in the Gulf War with the 101st Airborne Division.

I am no wussy.

And I DO fully support our troops, whether I agree with the administration on these issues or not. When we came home from the war, I was blown away by the support those Vietnam, Korean and WW2 vets showed us. They vowed, as we journeyed over into the unknown, they would never again allow the same mistreatment of our veterans that had occurred during the Vietnam years.

I got real choked up at a VFW ceremony honoring we Desert Storm vets. They all came up one by one and shook our hands and spoke to us. One was in a wheel chair missing his legs, one was missing 2 or 3 fingers.. guys who went through fire beyond imagining.. THEY shook OUR hands!

It was almost too much. THEY were MY heroes. OUR heroes. What did they say in response to our humbled collective amazement? "No matter what didn't happen, no matter what did happen, you JOINED and you willingly went not knowing if you would come back dead or alive. YOU are heroes, each and everyone of you."

Big Gulp.

I vowed to myself, I would carry on their honorable legacy. Those who came after me are my brothers and sisters. Tho, I may not know them personally, I know them all. No matter what this administration does, it has nothing to do with those who serve and carry out their orders, with honor, courage and devotion to this nation.

The LA Times writer doesn't have a clue what that means, as he himself, acknowledges.

And one more thing. When me and mine shipped out, our families wrapped yellow ribbons around those old oak trees out of devotion to our cause and out of the highest love for us. I can say, as God is my witness, my mother did not hang those ribbons out of guilt - as the writer suggests. No one has ever supported me more and that comment was an insult of highest sort.

I am not angry with him. He has every right to speak his mind; next time, tho, maybe he will be a little more thoughtful in expressing his views.

He can express himself as much as he pleases, just don't be calling those who support the troops as a bunch of wussies. Thats a little bit too much.

I only wish that everyone on the left would be so honest about their views. If they were, we'd never have to worry about them gaining any power ever again.

Don't you remember the almost celebritory countdown to the 1,000th troop death? What about the 2,000th one?

Remember anything bad for the country is good for Democrats... including troop deaths.

Pathetic but true. That is the position Democrats have put themselves in, and it's all because of their hatred towards Bush.

I'm not advocating that we spit on returning veterans like they did after the Vietnam War, but we shouldn't be celebrating people for doing something we don't think was a good idea. All I'm asking is that we give our returning soldiers what they need: hospitals, pensions, mental health and a safe, immediate return. But, please, no parades.

From a proud family of a green beret, a decorated marine and the most wonderful Lt .Col. that has ever lived.. Ate chicken with a knife and fork..LOL

Just like Ann Coulter, these journalists say outrageous things just to give themselves publicity. It works. People jump up and down, cry, wring their hands, work themselves into a lather, all which justifies these shock practicer's existence.

Don't feed the trolls! Who cares what Ann Coulter syas? Who cares wht Joel Stein says. Ignore them and they will go away.

It's an attitude that needs to change..
I liked to line a few of the most outspoken ones in a big row..
And "Moe Slap" them...until they admitted the agenda is not about the war, it;s about Bush..
