there is no debate the US system is flawed, but I really get annoyed when this stuff is used to support an anti-US agenda.

There's nothing anti-US about it.

Have you watched it? Or are you afraid to?

please. why don't you post the miss teen south carolina video and debate that one.

Incredible documentary but I did take offense to the statement he made about " one of the poor countries, Poland" Poland has the best economy of all the former eastern block countries and from personal experience Besides to vouch for the program I can tell you that when I came over here back in '86 I was bounds and leaps ahead of the average American student when it came to Math, Geography, Chemistry and so on...

Posting the Miss Teen South Carolina video for debate? Why would I want to do that? What is there to debate about?

You obviously haven't watched the video in the OP. Do you have children? Aren't you worried about their education? Do you prefer to sit there and debate things of no consequences like the Miss Teen USA contestant?

you mentioned miss teen SC already.

for the record, I have an extremely bright 7 year old, and a scary smart 2 year old. I have no worries about their education.

I have always felt you get out of an education what you put into it, regardless of if it's public or private. My hometown is a tiny little suburban town. We send kids to the ivy league every year from our public school.

I guess outside of the US they don't teach that you can't paint an entire nation with the same brush. That's called stereotyping

Accusing me of stereotyping? How original. I guess anything that criticizes America even if it's constructive criticism is anti-US, and therefore stereotyping, somehow

Don't bother replying to this.

To anyone else who actually want to discuss the thread topic, my previous question still remains unanswered:

Do you really care about what can be done ? Please explain why and I'll gladly have a mature discussion with you.

I'm so glad I didn't go to public school in the US.

exactly where did you go to school ?

Another observation I made was South Carolina's dismal SAT averages. I guess that explains Miss Teen South Carolina.

No, nerves explains her performance, and she also explained she didn't hear the whole question. I'd LOVE to see you on live TV to see how you would do

America, you're in trouble.

there's the stereotyping I mentioned. My kids aren't in trouble.

Yes I do. The explanation is quite simple. America is the most powerful and influential nation in the world, true? Whatever happens in America tends to affect the whole world. Therefore it worries me if the new generation in America isn't well versed in simple things like reading or more to the point, reading comprehension.

True, definitely not all American kids are dumb, but the numbers are rather worrying, or so that is the impression I get. Maybe dumb is too strong a word, but ignorant I think isn't too far off. Without the ability to think critically and see things from many angles, how can they be hoped upon to become the leaders of tomorrow? The globalist and the NWO will have had what they want.

Another reason of a more personal note: whether you believe it or not, I am American, but I was educated elsewhere. Someday I wish to return, start a family, start a whole new life there in the States. But the situation as it is now makes me doubt whether it would be the best idea. There was a time when I was proud to be an American. There was a time when I would mention it just because, I am an American. These days I just shut up about my nationality.

So yes, I worry what happens to the US of A, and what happens to the people.

I think it has to do with the kids just not being interested in learning what's being taught. There's nothing wrong with that either, truthfully the kids shouldn't be forced to learn things they don't want to learn or forced to give more than they're capable of giving. If they excel in one area of their studies it should be the school's duty to get the most out of that child in that specific area.
