Since expanding ATS into a new dedicated server in late April, our overall traffic has grown three-fold... and we've seen over 120,000 new posts.

Here are the important numbers from September, which was much bigger than August, our previous best month...

September "hits" . . . . . . . . . . . . . 14,916,606
September page views . . . . . . . . . 2,892,790
September bandwidth . . . . . . . . . . 66.5 gigabytes
Average hits per hour . . . . . . . . . . 20,717
- (thats 5.75 hits per second on average)
Unique users . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 102,265
Unique repeat users . . . . . . . . . . . . 87,342
- (these are people who visited more than once in the month)
Peak day (623,532 hits) . . . . . . . . . 9/11

Pretty much across the board, in all stat categories, September 2003 was 12% more active than August 2003... even in the number of referring users sent to us by Google (which was over 64,000!).

However, September was also the first month where the number of unique website users began to seriously tax our server hardware/software. A solution to this problem is being worked on, and we should have an announcement shortly.

So... thanks to all our members who continue to make ATS the top community for alternative discussion and thought.

(by the way... "hits" indicates the number of individual items requested by site users... many sites inflate their numbers by not qualifying what "hits" really are, and normally a site's total hits also include all the requests for each individual graphic on the site... in our case, our web traffic logging does not track images, so our "hits" are purely .html .js .css and .php pages only)

but first, congratulations on reaching such a large audience. and secondly, good morning!

for a non-mainstream media endorsed website, those numbers are impressive...

but tell me, how are your defenses for protection against information warfare? i like the banner awareness meter, but is that based on IP hits from known espionage agencies or what? or is it based on the number of posts which seem to come from disinformational artists and the like?

* checks own registration date *
* correlates with growth curve mentioned above *
* checks own number of posts *
* thinks 'glad not all members post at that insane frequency' *

Congratulations on managing the growth so far William.

Don't congratulate me... thank Simon -- this site is his brain child, all I did was make it work a little better.

OK.

Congratulations to you on your brainchild Simon, and to your humble underling William, for making it work a little better.

It's based on the number and type of posts of our members. For more infor on board features, click here: www.abovetopsecret.com...

hey, thanks. should have looked at that a looooong time ago. makes sense; the best and last defense a person has against external influences is her own mind...
no software algorithm can adapt or nullify so quickly and efficiently ridiculous lies and disinformation, I suppose.

and thanks for clearing up my ??? on the board awareness meter. i was *hoping* that it was an early warning device to others that your servers were experiencing heavy spamming or "loading" that was coming from proxies or alphabet-soup espionage organizations and their tentacles. but i suppose that to do so would be in violation of some stupid law whose goal is the same as the law that prevents businesses from defaming israeli products.

thanks for helping to produce such a great, user-friendly, and unique message board!

You'd be surprise how few "alphabet-sourced" IP's are actually spiders or bots... and how many are produtive and supportive members.

The first conspiracy theory page was put up by Martin Luther.Whether you agree with him or not his rant against the Administration(Catholic Church)was the first conspiracy post.

Print has gone through many stages, pushes ideas and opening minds.Recently, however, the established press have aligned themselves with political parties that in turn need the status quo to remain in power.
The press have failed us.They have abandoned us so they can live comfortably amoungst the Establishment.

Along comes the Internet.

Established media develope their own websites but all they succeed in doing is to use this new media to provide a modern version of their printed product.

ATS fills the vaccum. We give the people a voice not just comfortable establishment figures.
We don't laugh at what the people have to say because people have the right to say it.

The future is in websites like this and ATS is at the forefront.

Am I surprised at our growth? No,but I am surprised at the speed of growth.

Well done to all who have enabled ATS to exist and grow.
