DARPA does it again.. Yay for them..

A new handheld radar scope from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) can provide troops with an ability that was formerly the province of science fictional superheroes alone—the ability to sense through up to 12 inches of concrete whether someone is in the next room.

That is pretty cool.

I'd like to see a system like this incorporated into a next generation GI sensory suite. Maybe even into something like the land warrior system.

The US is looking at the soldier as a weapons platform now, much as they view an aircraft. This would be one of several systems that should be intigrated into one seemless sensory system to give our soldiers a dominate edge in situational awareness.

You know.. I've never actually thought of it like that, but you're right, the Soldier of today is a basic weapons platform. I'm sure this new sensory technology can be intergrated somehow into the helmets of infantry.. Or possibly into vehicles. Who knows? the possibilities are out there.
