Bigfoot costumes

Last night my wife, myself and our boys were working on an idea for a bigfoot short film. The boys have since taken the notes and started working on their "screenplay". One of them asked me.."how do we film the creature?" So I am turning to you guys to help them out...is there a realistic costume that would hold up on their film? would they be better off using a model? I figure with people who are used to debunking sasquatch footage could point us in the right direction.
