Disclaimer- not a debate on women’s rights here

What I would like to know is how are women different from men?

Not just the obvious characteristics. Why do women have such a hard time breaking through the glass ceiling? Some have but most have not. Could there be undiscovered biological traits that hold them back? With scientists still pondering the role and regulation of the brain, I believe it could be possible. Do women have the same intelligence capacities of men?

No offense to the ladies here but it seems men tend to accomplish, create, and invent more important things than women? Most Nobel Prize winners and accomplished professors seem to be men as well. Is this just a coincidence?

Does anyone have more information or comments?

I would hope that people look at these questions analytically…. try not to inject too much opinion.

Thanks

Well for one women has the ability to create or terminate life if she chose too and she can give birth to another human being.

Because we live in a male dominated society in which the male is brought up to feel superior.

If you notice since childhood female and male are geared to role playing and making very clear the difference in gender.

That woman and man are genetically different is not secret but the hold back comes on the role of woman given to her by society, religion and circumstances.

With scientists still pondering the role and regulation of the brain, I believe it could be possible. Do women have the same intelligence capacities of men?

Actually they are different, but man is not more intelligent than woman and woman is not more intelligent than man, only when they are put in comparison of one to one just like any other male or female of the species some have more intelligent than others within the same gender.

No offense to the ladies here but it seems men tend to accomplish, create, and invent more important things than women?

That is not truth it goes back again to the role of woman in society and the role of man society given superiority.

No, is just something that has to do by the rules of choosing or selecting the candidate for the prize it seems that males will be more selective of males.

Just like in our nation you have not seen any female president yet even when it has been candidates in the past, they has been squashed by the male majority of the ruling parties.

The role of superiority of the male in our society is market by religious, social and economic factors the same factors that rules our society.

Another question...

Now females are definately structured different then males. Muscles, fat %, sex organs, etc.

Could there also be some physical differences in the brain?

The brain is hardly understood by the science and medical fields, and I believe there "could" be differences between the male and female brain.

I believe that the male-brought-up-to-feel-superior argument is losing its grounds as of late. Ours is a sex-equal society, at least in America and Australia and most of Europe.

It goes without saying that most women will beat men at academics, and most men will beat women physically wise, but that is just ingrained in our DNA chains. In fact, if you go by the (fairly limiting) argument of which sex invented what, women should be surpassing men in the creation of new things and zoodats.

Actually, yes, it could be that, since the start of recorded time, the men have been the ones going out, doing the things, and the women staying home, cooking, so the women never got the practical experience to recognize where new things needed to be implemented. This is even apparent to this day, in a whole range of fields, from electronics to mechanics. Not that the women were not allowed to go into these fields, or that even society frowned upon them for attempting to, it's just that haven't chosen to.

But the world is rapidly changing, so who knows for the future?

Nonpoint, have you heared the saying, "Behind every successfull man is a good woman,"?

Einstein was a Noble Prize winner yet there is plenty of evidence to suggest that without the work of his wife collaborating for years with him, well he may have died a patent clerk. As it was when fame came courting him, it ignored her input and she literally got left to be a single mother of his children.

Yes, men and women do have different biological strengths and weaknesses that include brain function, but they are complimentary in that working together produces the the best outcome for both, particularly when the right two combinations of individual traits join together.

It often happens that what men are famed and admired for is actually the work of women who couldn't command the attention and respect in male dominated fields, to garner futher funding or promotion, so are intelligent and WISE enough to put the work ahead of personal pride and groom a man to do the 'selling'.

From my beliefs, ALL humans are bi-sexual in nature, and the choice is there for the choosing. However this also means that we are both male and female in nature, except that the chemicals and DNA form the male/female gender.

The left brain represents female aspects, the right brain the male aspects. Females therefore are more left brained, and males are more right brained.

This also has to do with physical ailments, if you have a problem in the left side of the body, you have a female figure or issue you need to deal with, and vice versa for men on the right side of the body.

Hope this helps.

Kind Regards
Merger

I'll agree with this. I believe we all start with the same basic blueprint as a fetus and then later the sex you become is determined by hormones encountered before birth. I believe if the hormones are correct and/or balanced, the hormones should match the DNA in determining the sex you become.

From my own observations, males seem to have better spatial and mathematical abilities in general and females seem to be better with other skills such as language and some social skills. A glass ceiling is a society invented term so it makes sense that in a society where males dominate, males will dominate at the top as well. Domination may simply be the result of aggression and I believe males are more aggressive in general than females. These are just my opinions.

I tend to agree with orionthehunter, just try and give most women a map and have them navigate, most wil have a harder time with it.

Women are better at multitasking and so many other things. We all have our own skills, some have cross over skills of course.

The point I am trying to make it this. We have different skills. We are both equal but different, and what the heck is wrong with that?

Men and women are as different mentally as we are physiclly, if we were the same things would get boring pretty quick. Although I wouldnt mind being nagged at a little less!!

Personally I like to entertain the idea that we are different at the cellular level. You know, all the little consciousnesses that comprise the whole. That is if you are comfortable telling yourself you are many consciousnesses. But that depends on how you define consciousness. Personally I define consciousness as something that can integrate infromational stimuli about it's environment and also have an affect upon it's environment.

If enough people tell you enough times that you are ugly, you will start to believe it.

If enough people tell you enough times that you are stupid, you will start to believe it.

Now, every time you look in the mirror, and just think that there is only 1, you have just told the overwhelming majority of the cells that made that very thought that they don't even exist.

Just a thought.

Now, for the differences between women and men at the cellular level after the fertilization of the egg:

The umbilical cord.

Male gender fetuses's cells have to block out the estrogen and build some defense against that toxin which in greater amounts can be harmful to the development. "Self Preservation" then becomes literally far more physical in a sense.

Female gender fetuses's cells did not have to overcome this threat, because there was no threat, estrogen is compatible with their cells!

Peace,
John

I wonder where this places androgynous and transgendered men and women

I dont think gender is totally "black"or "white" ,,but more that most men tend to be masculine and some more feminine and with women vice versa ^^

I dont think I received a lot of testosterone personally
