Yeah, everybody's talking about a war on Christmas and stuff. I don't buy it, but kewl, whatever you think. This news piece was a little fun to
me, though, as it occured during the war on Christmas...
Public outcry prompts Pasadena mall to reinstate menorah
So, the menorah had to go, but the Christmas tree could stay? Said tree is not a religious symbol, but holiday decor?
OK...for starters, Christmas has made up this war because it wants to dominate the holidays in America (as if it already doesn't). Apparently,
Christmas wants people to spend MORE money.
Then, Christmas talks about this war, but doesn't mind if Hanukkah is "suppressed."
Well, if the trees are not religious symbols, what the HELL is the hubbub about the name change to "holiday trees?" Hmmm, looks like doublespeak to
me. Besides, Pac changed his name, Diddy changed his name, Prince changed his name, wrestlers change their names, what's the big friggin'
deal?
So, at this mall, Christmas, who has a 30 foot tree and is already laughing at Hanukkah's mere 13 foot menorah, is not merely content with already
dominating Hanukkah. Even though Christmas has a nice 30 ft tree, the presence of the menorah still detracted from Christmas's glory. But, after
the menorah was returned, Christmas grudgingly accepted it, appeased by the fact that it continues to dominate the winter holiday season. As for
Kwanzaa, Kwanzaa who?
Really, though, there ain't no war on Christmas. It's just a conspiracy to further promote the holiday, and quite frankly, it needs no more
promotion. Face it, when it comes to Christmas, all other holidays are chumps, economically speaking. I guess that also holds for the meaning as
well, since it celebrates the birth of Jesus, the lord for most Americans. It does...right? That's Jesus in the red suit, right? Oh, wait, that's
that other guy; I guess he was born that day too.
Doesn't look to me like Christmas reps Christianity anyway. It looks more like a big money generator that came from pagans...not that that stops me
from liking Christmas. It's still one of the best holidays in the US, but I still prefer Thanksgiving. Stuffing yourself stupid is quite a good
present indeed.
