Thank you very much for that explanation, magestica.

I'm not sure what you mean then, when you say you disagree with it. If you approve of it, you don't think it's wrong and you don't think gay people will go to hell for being gay, then what do you disagree with? Do you simply mean that you think homosexuality is a sin?

Because that word (disagree) is very confusing to me in this context. What does that mean? If someone says 2 + 2 = 5. I can say I disagree and give an explanation. Can you tell me what it means to disagree with homosexuality, while approving of it?

I am wide open to the possibility that I have been wrong here.
And thank you for your patience.

Gosh you are pushy LOL! (But in a good sense)

I'm thinking of how to make sense of my thinking....Well OK, if a person is gay that's fine. That's their choice and I cannot and will not try to change them. I will be friends with them, I will share my home with them and treat them no differently than anyone else who enters my home as I have in the past. My uncle was gay *rest his soul* and he was my favorite uncle, I admired him as a little girl because I didn't see him as just being gay, I saw beyond that and I saw what a good heart he had and how much he and his partner loved eachother until his death, I know without a shadow of doubt that the Lord loved him, because I loved him and I love the Lord and he too loved the Lord.

Well I'm older now, and I carry his memory with me and perhaps that is why I am unable to pass judgement on gay people? However because I'm older and obviously have an opinion as I did NOT have as a child, I do disagree with the homosexual "act" itself. It bothers me, it makes me feel uncomfortable. Also when I was growing up I had a best friend whose father was gay and they lived together in her home, I would sometimes actually hear them having sexual relations and it bothered me then as did it their daughter, who for obvious reasons still loved her father, but it was the act that upset her. Perhaps even without what the bible says, it is in my conscious to think that it is wrong or just not "normal" for two people of the same sex to be together, because there was no bible around when I was hearing two men go at it in the next room and yet it still disturbed me inside.

I don't know what else to say. I know this though, I would not allow a drug dealer or murderer to babysit my child, but I would allow a gay person to. So I know that I have judged the murderer and drug dealer, but it's obvious that I have not judged the gay person..that make sense?

Yes, it makes sense. I understand.
Thank you. I retract what I said about you disapproving of them. I didn't understand your position, but now I do.

I know I'm a pushy wench! You are by far not the first person to tell me that.
But, hey, it got me what I wanted. Understanding. Education. Ignorance denied!

Prot0n - If you had read my posts in this thread, you would KNOW that I support homosexuality. If you really want to understand, maybe you should slow down and TRY to understand instead of just jumping in to post your next point before reading what's there.

What reason's?

It doesn't really matter what their reasons are. You don't have to buy into it. You can disagree. My point was that we all have our reasons for disapproving of what other people do. And we all do!

Because a book says so?

If they choose to use that book as a guide for their life, then yes. Sure they're going to believe what it says and refer to it to substantiate their beliefs.

I'm sorry, but it's discriminating. Discrimination is not a valid reason for jack.

It is many times discrimination. Discrimination exists. I don't like it, you don't like it, but it's rampant.

You know, what's right for a religious person isn't right for me. And vice versa. They have their own beliefs and views. Who's to say they're any less valid than mine or yours?

Tell me, Prot0n, is there a lifestyle that you disapprove of? Alcoholism? Drug users? Strippers? Well, obviously there is! You disapprove of religion, don't you? You have your reasons, don't you? The same way you have your judgments about religion and how people use it, magestica and others have their reasons for disapproving of homosexuality.

Do you disapprove of people born with physical defect's or mental problems? Do you disapprove of adult's who've got the mental capacity of an infant and need to be cared as such? Do you disapprove of people being born straight? Do you disapprove of a couple showing affection towards one another when they are in love?

Your logic, imo is wrong. How can you disapprove of gay people born gay but not disapprove people born with say, a mental handicap? It's discriminating and you know it. So what, people born gay fall in love with the same sex. Big deal. What they do in the bedroom is no more of a sin then what you do in the bedroom.

Nothing personal Proton, but there is no clear evidence of genetic homosexuality, it's still something that is highly disputed at best, at worst it doesn't exist, but it has become politicized also, with people using it to promote homosexuality. Still the consistent promotion of it as a life style is peculiar, does everyone need to become homosexual.

There's no evidence that we're born heterosexual either, is there?

How come nobody ever talks about that?

Taurus feces.

I don't want to hear that "taken out of context" crap. You Christians will hold up John 3:16 as proof that Jesus is the son of god. But, when a non-Christian holds up a verse that says you are to kill gays, it's taken out of context. Pick and choose, eh?

Don't worry. EVERY Christian I know picks and chooses what to believe from the bible. Goes with the territory, I guess.
