Common Enemy

The problem with the world as i see it is the constant jockeying for position. Be it religion, arms, land, oil, creed, colour, wealth etc.
The worst protagonists of this is of course the American War Machine.
Do you agree that if we all had a common enemy then we would all be fighting for the same religions, arms, land, oil, the planet etc......
Assuming we where invaded by off world life forms then the whole planet would pull together to fend off this enemy.
Who would front this defence. The American War Machine of course.
Right now most of the world believes President Bush is the Anti-Christ. One common world enemy to fight and President Bush would become the new Christ saving the planet.
Maybe the guy cant win, just maybe he believes he is doing right and defending freedom.
Do you believe a common enemy would save the planet or are we beyond it.

We have seen this scenario play out in a handful of movies, so why not? I suppose we should all pray for a hostile alien invasion...

soon there will be no need for war, because our efficiency standards with technological inovation including economic, agrigicultural, and industrial sciences will supersceed all poverty levels. stability for the planet will come by way of equalization of power, wealth, food, water, shelter. only perhaps small bands of roaming militia will rove certain isolated areas, that will quickly be nutralized with the world governments anti-gravitational particle beam fighter craft. that can respond to any situation anywhere in the world almost instantaniously.
