I've always been a fan of Stephen King, I've read almost all of his fiction work up till wolves of the calla, I think that was the last book I read
by him. I haven't read any of his more recent books but I really want to read the last two dark tower books and cell does have me intrigued.
I really enjoy the dark tower series and the way it ties in to all of his other books, a lot of his books are like that, even the short stories. He
made a few choices of characters in the dark tower (speaking of cameos...) that I wasn't too enthused with at the time of reading, but I like his
writing style a ton so I usually forgive him. He always painted the picture very well in his other books so when he ties them all together in this
series, It fits together so splendidly. He had the breakers of the beam in Hearts in Atlantis and the wastelands in the talisman, lots of references
to the stand, the list goes on and on of characters and settings, some old, some still being written in now. What a brilliant way to write, create
your own universe.... I love that he's still letting that universe spill over into his current writing a bit.
I haven't finished the series yet, I have the last two to read still, But the first five were really great. As good as it was though, I was upset
that book four was sort of a flashback the whole time. It was still really good, but I had gotten so wrapped up in the current story that I didn't
want to wait for the next part. Icarus Rising mentioned it getting slow, that's the book that did it for me.
If you like the Dark tower series, make an effort to read his whole catalog, It's crazy how much he mixes thing in from other stories. It's a pretty
tangled web. Also If you haven't read insomnia, I highly recommend it, that's always been one of my favorites.
