The long shadow of Nazi Germany

Now, I know you're wondering "What the heck is a post about Nazi Germany doing here in the War on terror section?" You would be surprised, truly surprised, as was I, when I first came across this information.

It is no hidden fact that die hard Nazi supporters and soldiers wished to see the Third Reich up until the cold hard end, even with Soviet troops and tanks on the edge of Berlin, these troops fought ferociously, useing guerilla tactics that the US themselves would again be facing in Vietnam and later in Iraq.

So you say, this is no surprise, these types of underground resistance movements have existed since the times of the Roman Empire. But here is where the link between Nazi Germany and the Iraqi Baath Party come to play.

The year was in the early 1930s, and Michel Aflaq was a brooding young Syrian, the son of a Wealthy merchant, who lived and studied in France. At the same time, as we all know, Hitlers astronomical rise to power and the establishment of his Nationalist party in Germany was taking place. Aflaq admired the pride and defiance displayed by the German people, and was very fond of Hitler himself. He and his Syrian "Study Circle" all owned copies of the translated version of "Mein Kampf".

Aflaq wished for a free, proud, independent Syria, which if you didn't know was a French colony at the time, and he loathed the overwhelming power of the European nations in what he saw as the Arabic Fatherland, an all encompassing united force that stretched from Morrocco to Saudi Arabia.

However twisted his ideology was, Hitler was a cunning politician nontheless, and saw a chance to export all of Germanys Jews with the British announcement of a Jewish state in Palestine. This would not only further his goal of a purified Germany, but also rile the Arabs of the Middle East into a frenzy, and hopefully overthrow their European masters. Hitler played the Baath.party like a harmonica. He promised them weapons and training, which he never delivered, HOWEVER, he gave them something perhaps He himself would not have expected.

A model, an example, and methods of achieving their goal. Aflaqs Baath party came to its pinnacle in Iraq, and with it's Naziesque secret police Saddam Hussein managed to wrangle in the reins of power in Iraq, surprise surprise, much like Hitler once did himself, in a bloody coup.

Now to those who feel that the Baath party is not an evil entity I ask you this, do you hold contempt for the Nazi party? For if you do, you now know it's true beginnings, it's methodology, ideology, and hatred for all those deemed unpure - all taken from the maniacal machinations of Hitlers Nazi Machine.

I think that the Nazis influenced much more than just the Baath party, every evil dictator since him was influenced by his tactics.

They all admired Hitler & the influence he had over Germany. Yes, he was a diabolical man, but at the same time he was an excellant politician.

I do not admire him, nor do I care for him, but he did get very far. Even though the rest of the World let him get as far as he did, just so they could pull the Worlds economies out of the toliet.

I don't really think Hitler forsaw UN partitioned Israel for the Zionists in Palestine. The Final Solution was meant as a method to elinminate all the Jewish population after Germany takes over the whole of Europe from Kirovsky to Lisbon.

Of course this never happened and the Final Solution only manage to kill portions of the Jewish population within Germany. Zionists emerge from the survivors of the Halocaust, but the suvivors from the Final Solution were never meant to be.

Israel was one of the many creations of the Nazi rule, but Hitler never planned it in any way.

He certainly did not plan it but the British promised a Jewish home state in Palestine long before the UN mandate, and when the deportations began, where did the majority of them go? To Palestine.

Anyway, The baath party is a nationalist party. Its intersting to see that there were some direct connections to the nazis.

It should also be remembered that the nazis would support people that were under colonial rule of the allies, like under britian. The Indian Tiger Legion 'fought' in europe with the nazis, was infact a group of people that were vying for indian independance, and they sort of exist today as the main indian nationalist party.

Support for the arabs probably had a similar flavour.

Baathism does seem to take the nazi resemblence a step further, in that communist rhetoric and socialism seems to be popular in arab politics, at least for a time, and so there you have the Socialism component.

Well remember that Saddam Hussein idolized and modeled himself after Stalin, not Hitler. And I'd say the security apparatus of states like Syria owes as much to the KGB and NKVD as much as to the Gestapo. Not surprising considering they were aligned with the Soviets during the Cold War.

The Nazi influence on the present Middle East is far more pervasive then you have so far discovered. Research the man who created the prevalence of antisemitism inherent in current Arab culture and the fascist philosophy inherent to Arab Nationalism, Haj Amin Al Husseini. He was a fervent Islamic Nationalist whose dream was a Arab Islamic Empire encompassing all of Arabia cleansed of Jews, Christian and his most despised Persians. Ironic. He was friends with Eichmann who he first met in Jerusalem. He influenced the founders of the Ba'th Parties of Syria and Iraq, instigated Arab hatred of Jews, anti Jewish riots, and the murder of moderate Arabs. He participated in the anti British failed Ba'thist coup in Iraq and eventually fled to Berlin. He met with Hitler and the transcript of that meeting is the only documentation of Hitler's role in the Holocaust. Their mutual hatred of Jews that Hitler respected lead him to state" The primary purpose of the war was the extermination of European Jewry". The Haj was introduced to Himmler by Eichmann and was made an SS Officer who created the Arab Muslim SS divisions that exterminated Christians, Jews and Gypsies in the Balkans. The Serbian genocide against the Croatian Muslims was a retaliation for the Muslim genocide of the Serb Christians. So much history swept under the rug by the cold war. The Haj broadcast anti British and antisemitic propaganda to Arabia and frquently visited the death camps that he helped create. He mentored two future Arab leaders the Egyptian Yassir Arafat and the Ba'thist Saddam Hussein. The PLO was once a branch of the Syrian Ba'thist party. All of this is substantiated in the transcripts of the Nuremberg trials, Eichmann's trial and the Haj's memoirs. The Arab world continues to use Nazi antisemitic propaganda in it's schools, media and political culture. Mein Kampf is required reading in the PA, Egyptian, Syrian, Iranian and other Arab schools, The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, an antisemitic propaganda pamphlet created by the secret police of Czarist Russian is also taught and is the foundation of the Hamas Charter that calls for the destruction of Israel and the killing of all Jews. The Fascist salute is still used by Hezbullah, Hamas, and the PLO but never photographed. The Haj who the British had appointed Grand Mufti of Jerusalem was one of many war criminals they like the US ignored and given asylum by the pro Nazi fascists of Egypt as part of the Odessa Plan.
