7 Films in Competition for the FX Oscar

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences today announced the seven films in consideration for Achievement in Visual Effects for the 78th Academy Awards.

The films are listed below in alphabetical order:

Batman Begins
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
King Kong
Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith
War of the Worlds

Fifteen-minute clip reels from each of the seven films will be screened for the Visual Effects Award Nominating Committee on Wednesday, January 25. At this screening the members will vote to nominate three of the seven films for Oscar consideration.

All nominations for the 78th Academy Awards will be announced on Tuesday, January 31, 2006, at 5:30 a.m. PST, in the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater.

Havent seen all of those films but I can see Star Wars being up there. Liked Batman a lot but cant imagine it being a remote possibilty. Also King Kong will surely join that list.

With Jackson going 3 for 3 in the LOTR Trilogy, I seem it tough to go against him this year with King Kong. I stick with Jackson this year and King Kong will win!
