Initial Operating Capability for Lockheed Martin F-22A Raptor

MARIETTA, Ga., Dec. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Lockheed Martin's F-22A Raptor, the world's only 5th generation fighter aircraft, surpassed a monumental milestone today when the United States Air Force declared that the Raptor has reached initial operational capability.

Yes, Impressive Green One. I actually was fortunate enough to receive the classified briefing on combat capabilities, tour maintenance facilities, and get a cockpit tour during a visit Tyndall AFB some moons ago. I think the supercruise and the new-age tailcone design are a couple of the more relevant features. Of course the avionics suite is what really makes it formidable, but I wouldn't want to go into specifics on that. Good to see it's operational now...
