i was thinking about the idea about finding something in nature that has to have been designed to prove the existence of god, im open minded about the idea and was thinkin why not try and think of something that has no purpose at all, creature or scientific effect. if we can fiind something that has no purpose then it hasent been designed and god doesnt exist.

I am sorry, but everything has a purpose here on Earth. From the smallest parasite, to the largest mammal, the oceans to the mountains, dirt to fire, everything has a purpose Without one, another cannot exist.

Plants provide food, life and air.

Animals provide food, interaction, and soil (upon decomposition).

Bacteria and insects provide food, interaction and help the decomposition process.

That is just scratching the surface.

I simply cannot think of one thing that cannot be deemed useful, beneficial, or crucial to existance here on Earth. Period.

Welcom to the Origins and Creationism Conspiracy forum. There is in fact a wealth of information about ID already in this forum. Please feel free to visit us, here or here. I believe you'll find any of your preliminary questions answered, and some that you never thought of addressed. Enjoy.

www.newscientist.com...

Good article...

"Intelligent design says that some features of the universe and living things can not be accounted for by natural causes, but instead show signs of being designed by an intelligent agent."

The above is from that link. What it look's like to me is ID is saying there's a god/creator simply becuase IDT'ers don't understand how comlpex system's could come about through natural mean's, so instead of pouring they're effort's into discovering how that could be, they write it of as the work's of a god/creator much in a ways that sound's remarkedly like creationism. Just like Lightening was obviously the work of a pissed off Zues thousand's of year's ago. Or, the earth was flat. Or, we are the center of the universe. Rather then learning anything, IDT'ers just write this stuff off as oh, too complex, obvious proof of a creator. And they wonder why ID isn't accepted as a theory?

In a sense, everything does have a purpose. That is because the things have survived and they are with us today. That is part of evolutionary theory, survival of the fittest. If the living things could not survive or find a place on this planet then it would become extinct very fast. The species must be able to adapt to its surroundings. Adaptation often means some kind of biological adjustment. Over a period of time of adjustments, the living thing evolves to sometimes dramatic differences. Evolution happens over many millions and billions of years. It is estimated that it takes at least a million years for a human brain to evolve into a dramatically different brain.

Evolution is supported by tangible evidence collected over many years. It has been tested and tested time and time again. It is the best idea so far for how nature moves and grows on this planet. The important thing is that evolution is supported by hard tangible evidence. This is what makes it a sound scientific theory. Science is nuts and bolts and hard evidence. This is what medical science is based on, hard tangible evidence. This is also the method behind forensic science used in crime cases. When it comes to medicine and the Law, you are better off with the scientific process than with someone who would like to cure you with a magic bean or throw you in jail because you are accused of being a witch. It is important to use scientific processes when considering nature and our surroundings. Superstition has caused enough damage.

intelligent design is just all the origin ideas of christianity that christian conservatives like G Bush use to try to pass off as a theory even though it's totally going against the seperation of church and state law.

Yes, many conservatives like to use the Intelligent Design concept in a ploy to try to tell people how to believe in god. This is typical of them. They cannot grasp the idea that people should be free to have their own beliefs. They just don't understand that it is a bad idea to have the government sponsoring or pushing particular religious beliefs. It is very dangerous for political leaders to believe they know the will of god or that they are the will of god.

Many christians cling to Intelligent Design theory because they say they are interested in science. But they are not really interested in science at all. They are really interested in trying to secure a dominance in their particular spin on christianity and pushing it onto people.

A good christian should understand respecting others. Ironically, the christians pushing their beliefs on people are being very disprectful.
