Random Number Generators.... PSI feedback

I have had an idea after reading a few articles and studies.. follow me here..

So long story short.. here is what I was thinking.. why not set up some sort of MASSIVE wireless network.. (a la SETI) ..on blackberrys and cell phones. Get all sorts of people running random number generators, use the processors on those devices to anlyse the results and send all the info to one single computer to determine if those people are in any type of Sync?

Wouldn't it be something to find out that everyones RNGs puts out the same results at similar times? So for example.. at 1pm there was a slight increase in my stats.. ONE came up more often then ZERO for a few minutes.. and so did 80% of the other people running similar software (but of course using different ways to generate their numbers so the technique to generate those numbers can be ruled out) ... ?

The other thing I was wondering.. was.. would this work at all on an individual level without the network?

If I had a black box RNG that beeped or vibrated (a java enabled cell phone would work just fine) when ever the stats became less then random would the results show that for some reason they become less then random whenever something signifigant happens to me? Would it warn me that SOMETHING was about to happen?

heres a question...anyone know how to build a simply digital one? one that will record it's own data and tell you which way it's leaning more towards. That'd be nice to have.

For true random numbers, you want to use a hardware source. There are programs that claim to use data from your computer to generate the numbers, but I dont know if they are true.

afaik we cannot generate truely random numbers. the only way to get this kind of info is to observe the spin of electrons on atoms or something like that. but any RND that is based off a computer is "seeded" in some way. most use the current time/date. this is because a computer cant just pull something from nothing. we need something to base our equations off of.

I'm glad you guys are interested. I'll read that page.. I opened it.. looks interesting.. actually.. I'll look at it right now..AH HA! Neet.. yeah, this is cool.. and I dunno if you read it when or IF you read the links I left there, but the princeton EGGs use a similar manner to get their random number. They just listen to static I think, and the static gives them a number that gets crunched and added to another static generated number etc.. something like that.. take the square of the total, divide by the time of day... decide if the number is "ODD" or "EVEN". Just guessing.


That does give me an idea though.... get your PSI black box gathering its 'randomness' from ALL of the random chaos and sensory inputs that it can possibly have.. put a big CPU and a big chunk of RAM in there so that it can generate and crunch and keep track of a whole bunch of data from different sources.. and just 'adding up' the sources themselves .. the input from all the 'senses' to generate the ONE or the ZERO... it could listen to radio static, it could have a light sensor, it could have a mic, it could have a thermomitor, and actually... more along the lines of stuff that would measure the same inputs that WE get inputted just while we exist.

I wonder what type of affect that would have... I wonder if perhaps maybe the princeton EGGs could use a little upgrade?


Thanks for the site.. I never would have thought of using more then one type of input till I saw a site that specialised in it.. lol.. hey, don't you think that motherboards should perhaps come with those built in to them? Or CPUs or something? Or don't they?
