What he is saying is the human experience is shared by all. Nothing is new under the Sun. We try to be individuals, set ourselves apart by being innovative and creative. However at one point in every persons life there is a singular person (who is a part of the whole) that influences us, so much so that they become a part of you. Loving and giving is a good way to break the cycle of karma.
