I think what he might be refering to is the "supposed" chamber underneith one of the paws of the sphinx. It is said to contain ancient knowledge
from-take your choice-aliens/gods/previous advanced civilations/atlantis...
Some research was done on this. Here is some info from that research.
The Great Sphinx
The Great Sphinx should not be confused with other sphinxes found in Egypt. The Great Sphinx is the large one near the Giza pyramids.
The face of the Sphinx seems to represent pharaoh Khafre, ruler of Egypt from 2520-2494 BC. Egyptologists have compared the only statue of Khafre we
have today with the face of the Sphinx and they realised there were some similarities.
"Mark Lehner, professor of oriental languages at the University of Chicago, published an article in National Geographic (in 91) which proved that the
face of the Sphinx was indeed the face of Khafre. Therefor he used computers to reconstruct the face of the Sphinx. The problem is that he first used
Khafre's face as a model, so it's obvious that he came to the conclusion that the face of the Sphinx and the Khafre's face were the same. If he had
used Elvis Presley's face as a model, he would have concluded that the Sphinx was a representation of the dead singer." (cited from the above
site).
So far no one has determined the real date of when it was built, Hancock and Beauval say it was built long before the 4th Dynasty when Khafre
ruled.
"When you have a look at the head of the Sphinx, it's obvious that the head is too small in comparison with the rest of the body. The original head
was much bigger and the actual "Egyptian" face has been carved later on. In 1993, Frank Domingo began to analyse the face of the Sphinx. Frank
Domingo is a specialist in facial analysis for the police of New York. His conclusions were that the Sphinx and Khafre were two different persons. His
conclusions were totally opposed to Lehner's theory. Who was right? The Sphinx is really a riddle because it can't be dated by C14 techniques and
there are no inscriptions which proves it has been built during the 4th dynasty. We can say the Sphinx is completely anonymous!
Lehner says that there is one syllable ('Khaf') carved between the front legs of the Sphinx and this proves that it has been built under the reign
of Khafre. But 'Khaf' doesn't mean anything because the names of the pharaohs were always written in closed cartouches. And even if that syllable
had been carved by Khafre, it doesn't mean he built the Sphinx. It could simply mean that Khafre repaired the Sphinx and gave his face to it. Another
carved rock from that period has been found and it shows that Cheops had already seen the Sphinx. Cheops was born before Khafre which means that
Khafre couldn't have built the Sphinx" (cited from above site).
The Hidden Chamber
In the 70s radar has shown that there were "holes" under the Sphinx. One of these is large enough to be a room. The Egyptian government has been
protective of the site and so far has not allowed any diggings to see if these holes are man made or are natural.
A man named Edgar Caryce popularized the idea of a hidden chamber. He is qouted as too saying.
"A record of Atlantis from the beginning of those periods when the Spirit took form, or began the encasements in that land; and the developments of
the peoples throughout their sojourn; together with the record of the first destruction, and the changes that took place in the land; with the record
of the sojournings of the peoples and their varied activities in other lands, and a record of the meetings of all the nations or lands, for the
activities in the destruction of Atlantis; and the building of the pyramid of initiation, together with whom, what, and where the opening of the
records would come, that are as copies from the sunken Atlantis. For with the change, it [Atlantis] must rise again. In position, this lies -- as the
sun rises from the waters -- as the line of the shadows (or light) falls between the paws of the Sphinx; that was set later as the sentinel or guard
and which may not be entered from the connecting chambers from the Sphinx's right paw until the time has been fulfilled when the changes must be
active in this sphere of man's experience. Then [it lies] between the Sphinx and the river. [378-16; Oct 29, 1933]"
I have discovered a link about the passages that lead intothe Sphinx
www.catchpenny.org...
A Japaneese team made these discoveries about the Sphinx.
A. South of the Sphinx. The Japanese indicated the existence of a hollow 2.5 m. to 3 m. underground. And, they found indications of a groove on the
Sphinx body that extends beneath the Sphinx.
B. North of the Sphinx. The Japanese found another groove similar to the southern one which may indicate that maybe there is a tunnel underneath the
Sphinx connecting the south and north grooves.
C. In front of the two paws of the Sphinx. The Japanese found another hollow space about 1 m. to 2 m. below surface. Again, they believe that it might
extend underneath the Sphinx.
Over the next few days I will analyize the differnt theories of the undergroudn chmaber and compile them.

Ok, here is the next installment of Alternative Ideas for the Sphinx and the Pyramids.
There is thought to be a connection between the Cydonia region on planet Mars and Gaza with the pyramids of Egypt. The well known D&M (pyramid?) on
Mars, like the Great Pyramid of Egypt, is aligned virtually north south towards the spin axis of the planet. Former NASA consultant Richard Hoagland
argues that the Face on Mars is 'not merely the image of a terrestrial hominid...lying where it has no business being. One half (the right) is also
the perfect image of a cat; specifically a lion - the king of beasts- the Sphinx is a lion-cat.
The Egyptian city of Cairo which is built near the ancient pyramids of Gaza gets its name from an old Egyptian word which means city of mars
www.fortunecity.com...
If you look at picture # 13 on this next link, you will see an image from a cliff on mars that look like an Egyptian Queen.
imageevent.com...
Lets look at another idea that is not accepted by the mainstream, the room(s) under the Sphinx, Sphinxs paw or between the sphinx and the great
pyramid depending on who you read. Edgar Cayce, a well known telepathic/clairvoyant,
Talked of a hall of records that would be discovered and would change mankind and his history and science forever. He indicated the knowledge
came from Atlantis and would not be found until the time is right-but we were not given exact indication of when that is-though he did say it
would be discovered between 1998 and 2001.I found this site, I dont think it is the hall of records, but it is under the sphinx and interesting non
the less.
phoenix.akasha.de...
The point I was trying to get at is there is still so much more to Gaza than meets the eye, until it is discovered or discovered and released to the
general public.
Yoshimura and a team of Japanese scientists conducted tests using electro-magnetic waves and radar technology
Professor Sakuji Yoshimura along with a team of Japanese scientists conducted experiments in the Queen's Chamber using electro-magnetic waves and
radar equipment. This high-tech approach yielded results similar to the French (1986, below). With the confirmation of a 'cavity'some believe a
hidden chamber possibly containing the treasures of Cheopsclose to the French team's drillings, they found another large cavity behind the N-W
wall of the inner Queen's Chamber and a 'tunnel'possibly passagewayoutside and to the south of the Great Pyramid. Again, shortly after these
intriguing discoveries, the Egyptian authorities stepped in and terminated Yoshimura's work. All acute paranoia aside, it begs one to think 'they'
ARE trying to hide something, or do they want to find it first.
www.riddleofthesphinx.com...
Why would that be a big deal? What if what was found clearly showed that the Sphinx and the Pyramids were built by another civilization-predating
Egypt? Why is that a big deal? Think of the Mayan ruins in Mexico. Mexico isnt thought of as once being mighty pyramid builders; they are just the
folks who moved in after the fact. I think the same is true of Egypt and the pyramids, but Egypt is clearly not going to let that kind of info out. It
may also hold information that those who are in charge dont think the general public is ready. Then there is the worse reason in the world, the
information might go against their religion-Egypt is a Muslim country. Would Muslims destroy important historical fact/items in the name of their
god-they already have. Much of the alabaster from the great pyramids was used to build alabaster mosques in Egypt.

Hmmm.. numbers...
Alright, here is some numbers to think about...
HOW MANY BLOCKS DID IT ACTUALLY TAKE TO BUILD THE GREAT PYRAMID?
Most books and encyclopedia state that there are 2.3 million blocks of stone in the Great Pyramid of Khufu (Cheops), with no mention of method used to
figure this.
Socrates determined the size and weight of the blocks (a standard block),
and ran a Pascal Computer Program (a mathematical model of all the blocks of stone needed; written by the author to optimize the sizes and weights of
the stones) to come up with the real number of blocks used. Since the volume of passageways and internal chambers are very small compared to the high
volume of the pyramid, they are ignored at this time, just as though the pyramid was built of solid stone blocks with mortared joints.
THE SIZE OF THE BLOCKS
The size of the blocks are based on a chance discovery in 1837 by Howard Vyse. He found two of the original side casing blocks at the base of the
pyramid, 5 ft x 8 ft x 12 ft, with an angle of 51 degrees, 51 minutes cut on one of the 12 ft. sides. Each of these stones weighed (5 x 8 x 12)/2000 =
39.9 tons before the face angle was cut. These originally were used for the side casing stones of Step No. 1, in the Pascal computer program. The
sizes of all the other blocks were scaled from these two original blocks of the remaining Steps 2 to 201.
THE GREAT PYRAMID'S DIMENSIONS AND THEIR LAYOUT
One acre = 43,560 sq. ft, or 208.71 feet on a side.
For the pyramid's base, length = width = (square root of 13.097144 acres) x 208.71 feet = 755.321 feet. Or 755.321 x 12 = 9063.85 inches.
Height = (755.321 x tangent 51deg 51 min)/2 = 480.783 feet. Or 480.783 x 12 = 5769.403 inches.
For the cap stone base: length = width = (32.18 x 2)/tangent 51deg 51 min = 50.55 inches.
The average size of a pyramid stone = (5 x 8 x 12)
The average side measurement, at the base = 759.3 ft.
The height used was 201 steps high, or 480 feet. (This is minus the height
of the Capstone, which was one piece in itself.
The number reached by the Pascal computer program was 603,728 blocks used.
The solid core takes up the space of 13,016 stones. So, the actual number of stones used to build the Great Pyramid is 603,728 - 13,016 = 590,712.
This figure is (2,300,000 - 590,712) = 1,709,288 blocks less than the often
published 2.3 million value.
NUMBER OF VARIOUS BLOCKS OF STONE USED TO BUILD THE GREAT PYRAMID
Number of platform blocks used (2.5 ft x 10 ft square), equals (759.3 x 759.3(pyramid base)) - (412.7 x 412.7(core base))/(10 x 10(platform block
base)) = 4,062.
Number of CORNER Casing stones where the pyramid faces meet equals 201 steps x 4 sides = 804.
Number of side casing stones equals ((244 x 127) + 8,953) = 39,941.
Due to Bedrock Core, in the center of Step 1 through 10, the total number of blocks needed is reduced by 13,016.
THE NUMBER OF ALL BLOCKS BEHIND THE CASING STONES EQUALS
(590,712 - 804 - 39,941) = 549,967.
PLACING THE BLOCKS
The average number of blocks that have to be placed each day equals (590,712 blocks)/(20years x 364.25 days) = 81 blocks per day.
If 10 crews of 300 men work on each of the four sides of the pyramid, then
the totals of 40 crews and 12,000 men will be needed. Each of the crews will be responsible to place 81/40 = 2 blocks per day.
The workload passes through three phases of decreasing difficulty, which are determined by the weights of the heaviest blocks:
Steps 1 through 21 (60.59 to 27.24 tons)
Steps 22 through 136 (17.66 to 6.44 tons)
Steps 127 through 201 (3.05 to 2.63 tons)
As the weight of the blocks decrease, Step to Step, the sizes of the drag crews will decrease. However, when this happens, the number of blocks needed
to be dragged each day can be reduced because one large block can be dragged and cut into several smaller blocks that are needed.
As the pyramid rises there is less space for the crews to work in and fewer block to be placed. In other words, the number of workers that will be
needed depends on three factors of: weight of blocks, number of blocks to be placed, and the working space available.

Ii have come across more info on The Sphinx and the rumored Hall of Records.
Edgar Cayce believed that the opening to the Halls of Records, which hold the history of the Earth, will be found in the right shoulder of the
Sphinx.
"If you bisect the golden mean rectangle that fits around the spiral at the Gizah plateau, it passes exactly through the headdress of the Sphinx.
Also, extended from the southern face of the middle pyramid and the line that bisects the golden mean rectangle, forms a cross that marks a very
specific spot on the right shoulder of the Sphinx." (
www.crystalinks.com...)
Also on the site is this which is too intresting to paraphrase.
"One of the problems with the Sphinx is that the right shoulder - the area marked by the cross - keeps cracking. The Egyptians have been trying to
patch it to keep it together. The head is also falling off. Thoth told me that the head will fall off and that, in the neck, there will be found a
large golden sphere, which is a time capsule. The Egyptians are doing everything they can to keep the head and right shoulder from falling off. Thoth
also told him that everything was set up at a higher level so that the Halls of Records would be discovered before the end of 1999.
Thoth said 148 sets of three people would try to enter the Halls of Records, until one of these sets, coming from the West, would open the doorway by
making a sound with their voice. Inside there would be a spiral staircase going into an underground room. The Japanese have the technical ability to
see this room clearly enough with instruments to detect a clay pot in the corner.
There are three channels that go out from this room. If you know how to read it, the clay pot will tell you where to go and what to do. Thoth said
that the three people from the West would enter and go down the right channel. If you go down the wrong channel, or if you are not the right group of
people, you will die- a real "Indiana Jones"- type scene. If you are one of the chosen three people you can walk right in without any problem.
These three people eventually will come down a long stone hallway lit on its own with no lights; that is, the air itself would be luminous. High up on
the left side of the wall would be etched forty-eight sacred geometry drawings. These are the illustrations of the chromosomes of
Christ-consciousness-- The first one being the 'flower of life'.
At the end of the hallway there is a slight righthand turn into a large room. Sitting on the raised shelves of this room is physical evidence of the
existence of civilization on this planet for the last five and a half million years.
At the front of the room is a stone. At the top of the stone these three people would find something like a photograph, an image of themselves.
Beneath the images in the photograph they would find their names- not necessarily the names they were given at birth, but their true names. Underneath
the names would be a date, which would be that actual day. Thoth said that each of these three people will be allowed to remove one of these objects
and take it out."
The idea of the Hall of Records is very fascinating indeed. But the question remains, who put it there if it does exist.
I have discoverd this piece of info to answer that. Edgar Cayce believed that the records were from Atlantis, brought to Egypt by the survivors. These
records contain the history of man. Cayce also said that another Hall of Records was taken to the Yucatan. According to Dr. Greg Little, there are
three of the Halls, one of which is under the Sphinx.
"The Cayce story of the establishment of these three record halls begins at the time when Atlantis had already lost a battle for world
conquestessentially the same story given by Plato circa 350 B.C., wherein he related that Atlantis' destruction was a result of trying to conquor
the world. The Atlanteans had become dominated by a war-like group of political leaders who sought to enslave others, including their own populace.
However, within the Atlantean political structure were a group of priests who remained devoted to spirituality. Interestingly, the Atlantean
priesthood became aware that a cataclysmic event was about to occur. This event, they were told, was going to wipe Atlantis from the face of the
Earth. In the March and April issues of the ARE's monthly membership newsletter, Ancient Mysteries, we discussed the source of this information.
Incredibly, according to the Cayce readings, this knowledge was transmitted to a key Atlantean priest through extraterrestrial sources! In fact, the
Cayce readings do contain several separate references to ancient visits by extraterrestrial beings."- Dr. Little
More from Dr. Little.
"After the Atlantean priests verified that the prediction of the cataclysm was true, they worked out a plan to preserve key historical records and
information about Atlantean technology. This is what is contained in the Hall of Records, along with a variety of implements from the Atlantean
culture. Perhaps the best explanation of how they verified that the cataclysm was certain has been worked out by England's Andrew Collins in his
book, Gateway to Atlantis. Specifically, Collins followed-up on earlier work by the German scientist Otto Muck, who discovered that a fragmenting
comet struck the Atlantic Ocean and the whole of Eastern America. This even, called the "Carolina Bays Event" by geologists was initially thought to
have happened in about 9000 B.C. However, recent research by physicists has shown that the event took place sometime just after 10,500 B.C. (see our
book and 68-minute DVD documentary The ARE's Search for Atlantis for documentation and an explanation). Thus, if a comet was the source of the
cataclysmic event that devestated Atlantis, it is probable that the impending disaster could have been confirmed by Atlantean astronomers.
The timeframe of the establishment of the three Hall of Records was circa 10,500 B.C. This date coincides with Dr. Robert Schoch's analysis of
weathering of the Sphinx as well as computations made by the UK's Graham Hancock, Adrian Gilbert, and Robert Bauval.
According to Cayce, prior to the destruction of Atlantis, Atlantean priests made three identical sets of records and artifacts that they wanted to be
preserved. These can be viewed as similar to modern time-capsules. Three separate groups were then charged with traveling to widely separated places
where they were to construct chambers to house the records. The chambers were supposed to be made in such a manner that they could withstand the tests
of time as well as natural disasters. In addition, the chambers were supposed to be hidden in such a way that individuals could not accidentally
stumble upon them. That is, they were constructed so that access could be gained only by a deliberate effort to find themwhen the time and
technology was right."
"The first record hall was in Egypt at Giza. According to Cayce, access to the chamber lies in the bedrock under the right paw of the Sphinx. ARE
researchers verified the presence of "cavities" deep under this area utilizing ground-penetrating radar, but their efforts to access the opening
were stimied by Egyptian authorities for a host of reasons. However, the presence of either a cave or a tunnel in that location has since been
verified. About two months ago Zahi Hiwass, the individual in charge of all Egyptian archaeological areas, announced that the UK's Birmingham
University was contracted to utilize an advanced form of ground-penetrating radar in that area with the intention of finding all subsurface tunnels
and chambers."- Dr.Little
I believe we can now agree that there is in fact a chamber under the Sphinx. According to more alternative theories, it is this Hall of Records.
Others just belive it is just natural.
Later today I am going to study the theories of what is under the pyramids, and report back tommorrow.

Alright, I am posting this on behalf of neomoniker because he is having trouble posting:
quote:
The Wall
"Ramses II's father, carved the history of Ancient Egypt on the wall of a corridor. He shows who ruled Egypt from the first pharaoh to the last one,
himself. That's what the left wall shows. What about the right wall? It describes who ruled Egypt before the first pharaoh when Egypt was still ruled
by the Gods. Who were those Gods?"-(cited from above website). Some speculate the these "Gods" were aliens who lived amongst the Egyptians.
I think this attribution to "God" by Ramses II father helps to substantiate further the hypothesis that the Great Pyramids were constructed long
before any classical Egyptian civilization emerged on the seen. The ancient Egyptians having no written or oral history of who or what built the
pyramid monuments found a quick & easy solution to the puzzle by giving a spiritual deity, "God," all of the credit for their creation.

I've been reading through to posts in your project and some of them are very interesting.
Even though I'm not officially a member, I'd like to add a couple of points regarding the age of the Sphinx.
A lot of people latch onto the 10,500 BCE date given by Graham Hancock as the "actual" date of it's construction. Supposedly this is based on the
water erosion found on the megalith. Unfortunately for Hancock, however, there was no 11th century BCE wet period. Egypt at that time is in the middle
of an ice age and was very, very cold and very, very dry.
This isn't to say that the traditional Egyptologist date is correct; it can't be because of the water erosion. Dr. Robert Schoch, the geologist who
determined that there was water erosion present, concluded that the erosion pattern was "perfectly consistent" with the rainfall during the period
between 7,000 and 5,000 BC
My source for this information is the book "The Stargate Conspiracy" by Lynn Pickett and Clive Prince. It explores some of the claims made by
traditional Egyptologist and their New Egyptologist counterparts. Basically Picknett and Prince point out that both sides are doing a heckuva lot of
wishful thinking.
This is a U2U I revieved from BIGGIE.
If anyone else out there has any information, feel free to U2U me and I will post it for you.

Hey guys, lets not forget about the most reasonable answer to building......
" The most common theory for moving large blocks is to slide logs under the large stones to make mobility easier. The block wouldve had large
ropes with people pushing the block forward, while several men would remove the last log uncovered by the stone. The end log that was removed
wouldve been transported to the front where it would complete the cycle under the stone, until it went to the back again."
But the question remains, how would they get it into position?
"This idea has also left scientists baffled. The most common theory for placement of each stone is said to have a ramp that went around the
pyramids sides. Some conclude the ramp only touched once side of the pyramid. This might have been true, but the ramp might have had more material
then the pyramid and would have made placement of each block difficult."
But!!
" Herodotus was a Greek historian who traveled to Egypt around 450 B.C. and wrote that the Egyptians had some sort of gear that was used in lifting
these large blocks. Although this might sound extraordinary, scientists have found no proof of any such lifting devices."
Could Herodotus be telling the truth? Could the mystery of the pyramids be buried under the sand of Egypt? We may never know....

How many logs would this have taken... Do you know how many trees would be needed?
These blocks wieghted tons, and the logs would have been worn down after each block, which means they would need to be replaced.
That could lead to alot of trees being cut down? Do they have this amount of trees in Giza?

The Riddle of the Sphinx
"What is that which has one voice and yet becomes four-footed and two-footed and three-footed?"
[Apollodorus 3.5.7]
"What goes on four legs at dawn, two at noon, and three at dusk?"
[Parabola: Summer 2000][
The winged [Greek] sphinx of Boeotian Thebes, the most famous in legend, was said to have terrorized the people by demanding the answer to a riddle
taught her by the Muses and devouring a man each time the riddle was answered incorrectly. Eventually Oedipus gave the proper answer: man, who crawls
on all fours in infancy, walks on two feet when grown, and leans on a staff in old age; the sphinx thereupon killed herself. From this tale apparently
grew the legend that the sphinx was omniscient, and even today the wisdom of the sphinx is proverbial. [From: Britannica Online]
Ever since its relatively recent rediscovery, theories and controversies, much in imitation of the desert sands, have swirled around the Sphinx.
Perhaps this situation is not new, and the same occurred after previous rediscoveries, which were also followed by feverish attempts at repair and
preservation, after which the desert once again claimed all but its enigmatic Sphinx head.
The real riddle of the Sphinx at Giza relates to its very identity. Everything that you may have learned in school or through mainstream educational
programs is most likely erroneous. The people who have contributed to the status quo of the now stale and challenged "accepted theory" appear to be
reluctant to accept new research. In some cases, those charged with protecting this precious leonine treasure actually deny access to researchers with
whom they have had disagreements over theory.
Finding fresh, reliable news on just what is going on is very difficult. When one does come across new information, s/he must wade through rumor,
supposition, and, even more unfortunately, vitriolic back-biting.
The Great Sphinx casts spells of charming. S/he first enchanted me when I was about 7 and captured me quite sublimely a few years ago while I was
digging for information on the original Oracle at Delphi. Whenever a standstill came about in my Delphi research, I'd investigate the Sphinx. At the
time, the most interesting item I'd found concerning the Sphinx was what Edgar Cayce had uttered while in trance: that there were hidden areas below
the Sphinx and that a Hall of Records would be discovered near the end of this century. All of the other resources were dry, uninteresting, and
relegated this great, ancient structure to a minor existence -- constructed only as a memorial to one egomaniacal pharaoh or another. To me, this
theory lacked common sense.
Educational television programs seemed bent on taking an exciting topic and making it as boring as possible. Spokespersons were typically old,
slow-speaking, uninspiring gents who gave the impression of never having left their museums.
Along came a few "new" researchers who had also fallen under the Sphinx's spell. We have John Anthony West to thank for his having contacted Robert
Schoch, a respected geologist, stratigrapher, and paleontologist. Professor Schoch has presented evidence that the Sphinx has been eroded by
precipitation -- long periods of rains.
Graham Hancock and Robert Bauval took this information and combined it with their own research and that of many others. The work that they've done,
together and individually, is much too detailed to cover on a few pages of a web site. Their coauthored book, The Message of the Sphinx should be
available in libraries by now.
Almost a century ago, P.D. Ouspensky wrote about his visit to the Sphinx. You may find that his down-to-earth yet mystical description explains a
portion of the Sphinx's magnetic attraction.
I hope you'll enjoy the reading selections and links provided below. Keep in mind that this is not the main page of the site. To see a table of

The Sphinx lies on the Gizeh plateau, where the great pyramids stand, and where there are many other monuments, already discovered and still to be
discovered, and a number of tombs of different epochs. The Sphinx lies in a hollow, above the level of which only its head, neck and part of its back
project.
By whom, when, and why the Sphinx was erected -- of this nothing is known. Present-day archaeology takes the Sphinx to be prehistoric. [Note:
Ouspensky was writing between 1908-1914.]
This means that even for the most ancient of the ancient Egyptians, those of the first dynasties six to seven thousand years before the birth of
Christ, the Sphinx was the same riddle as it is for us today.
From the stone tablet, inscribed with drawings and hieroglyphs, found between the paws of the Sphinx, it was once surmised that the figure represented
the image of the Egyptian god Harmakuti, "The Sun on the Horizon." But it has long been agreed that this is an altogether unsatisfactory
interpretation and that the inscription probably refers to the occasion of some partial restoration made comparatively recently.
As a matter of fact, the Sphinx is older than historical Egypt, older than her gods, older than the pyramids, which, in their turn, are much older
than is thought.
The Sphinx is indisputably one of the most remarkable, if not the most remarkable, of the world’s works of art. I know nothing that it would be
possible to put side by side with it. It belongs indeed to quite another art than the art we know. Beings such as ourselves could not create a Sphinx.
Nor can our culture create anything like it. The Sphinx appears unmistakably to be a relic of another, a very ancient culture, which was possessed of
knowledge far greater than ours.
There is a tradition or theory that the Sphinx is a great, complex hieroglyph, or a book in stone, which contains the whole totality of ancient
knowledge, and reveals itself to the person who can read this strange cipher which is embodied in the forms, correlations and measurements of the
different parts of the Sphinx. This is the famous riddle of the Sphinx, which from the most ancient times so many wise souls have attempted to
solve.
