Mirage 2000 Low Flying Video

Im sure you all have seen this.. the question I got is when they fly so low how come you dont see the water shoot up like you do in the movies? I thought the pressiure system created between the jet and the water would actually be enought to spout the water up.. i could have sworn ive seen it happen in another video from a F-14 or something.. any ideas?

Near the end of the video, when they pull up you can see the water getting affected by the thrust. But it doesn't happen like it does in the movies... because movies are never realistic, especial Hollywood ones.

It looks like the same video I watched before. Any sort of plume would come up from behind the plane, and you're looking out the HUD the whole time.

there are some shots where you can see the whole plane, and the waters completly calm.

Like JRA said, you won't see that very often, and you probably have to be going supersonic to get enough of a shockwave to create a trail. I've seen a painting of a B-1 that created a rooster tail, that supposedly is taken from a real pic, but it was supersonic at about 50-100 feet. Subsonic or even transonic you just won't get enough of a shockwave to disturb the water.

I think you are right.. may need to go supersonic over water.. if you type in rooster tail into google images, it pulls up a 14 and a b1 but they seem to be drawings.. I really like to get a hold of the oringals if its even possible to do that.

Ya, I have the video of the F-14 and it was going supersonic and that caused the water to react. Pretty neat stuff. I had no idea that the b-1 photo of the rooster was made from a real picture. Does anyone have the real photo?

Shame on you guys, nobody mentioned the Jaguars and Mirage F.1's in there too, did you not notice they weren't all Mirage 2000's? I thought you knew about planes

Eh, I just thought it was way cool how low they were flying. I didn't pay any attention to what kind of planes they were.
