Why is it that Hugo Chavez is helping the victims of Hurricane Katrina and the US government not.

All the US has done lately is evicted people from hotels. Chavez is giving away freebies like he was a sample guy at a supermarket.

It's sad to me that a foreign President has to step in to help out people in the "most powerful country in the world". . . . .

The US Government is doing plenty to help the victims of hurricane Katrina as well as the victims of the other hurricanes. The initial response to this disaster, by all levels of Government--Federal, State, and Local, was a disgrace. But the federal Government has done a tremendous amount to help these people out.

And if you think that Chavez cares more about American citizens than our own government does, that is laughable. This is nothing more than a token gesture by Chavez to try to make Bush look bad, not because he cares about the needs of Americans.

Chavez is rich and powerful only because he gets billions of American dollars for the oil he pumps out of his country----from oil wells built by American companies.

Without the oil from Capitalist American, Chaves would be just another Third World country begging for food and money from those Capitalist pigs.

BTW the two cents of help he is giving to NO is paying him back billions of dollars worth of free publicity.

He sees himself as the Messiah incarnate----helping the poor and those poor Americans----yet he and his cronies are the cause of the poverty in South America including the millions of his own people who are in poverty.

Why doesn't he help his own? Because it won’t get him any world press.
