Where is Area 51?

I recently went to Las Vegas. While there I went out to Rachel to find the road to area 51. I found an old cafe, with some colorful people that entertained me. I kept asking "How do I get to the road to "Area 51". I got a different answer everytime and none of the instructions led to the same place. Whoever you ask looks at you like please dont ask me that. They don't look scared - they act more like that is the question your not supposed to ask, because there is no Area 51 and never was. I exhausted all the roads within more miles of Rachel than the stories about Area 51 say it is. Sorry there is nothing there! There were lots of people in the cafe asking how to get to Roswell Nearly everyone who stopped in The locals no longer thought that was funny.

From Las Vegas take I-15 north for 22 miles. At exit 64 take US-93 north. After 85 miles, 12 miles past Alamo, you come to the intersection with Hwy. 318 on the left. Directly across the road from the intersection, to your right, you will see the ruins of an old casino.

At the intersection turn left onto Hwy. 318, and after less than a mile veer left again onto Hwy. 375. At that intersection you will see the "Extraterrestrial Highway" sign under a group of trees. Ironically, right next to the sign, in the shade of the trees, is where some of the Area 51 workers park their cars to take the white bus into Area 51.

From the beginning of Hwy. 375 it is about 15 miles over Hancock Summit to the beginning of Groom Lake Road, 20 miles to the Black Mailbox and 39 miles to Rachel.

The last gas in Las Vegas is at the Craig Rd. exit. There are a few gas station on the way, in Alamo, Ash Springs, Rachel (only regular unleaded) and Tonopah. However, some of the stretches without gas are over 100 miles, and some of the gas stations close at night. So you may want to keep an eye on your gas.

Before doing that you should have come here.

Area 51 is very well documented.

strange that ive been there twice now... everyone i met was friendly especially at the little alien inn.... ufo/are cia freaks keep them folks alive and fed from what i can tell...
of top of my head if you coming from vegas you already past the main dirt road to 51 if you come up on the Inn.

unless of cos its a new way make people think theres somethink going on at the 51, have it on good authority that most of the 51 roles had been moved to some base in or around white sands missile range.

I forgot I had posted this. Now that I've seen a map, I see why I did not find it. On at least three ocasions I was given directions which led me down roads going the opposite direction.
The people at Rachel were great! I meant nothing negative. Its just that I could not get a clear set of directions and did not want to push the point as they seemed a bit flustered by the dumb questions others were asking. I was however treated well and invited to stay a few days. Unfortunately I could not. I noticed most people stoping were very rude and spoke down their noses to them. I found everyone warm and friendly. They were very proud of their childrens scholastic acheivments and seemed like a very stable happy community. I could easily retire to a place like that. I've never been comfortable in cities.

Surprised they don't sell a map or something that would help people drive up there...

How far is Rachel from the base?
