Explain in your complaint what is wrong regarding your points.

Yeah, this is not the place to discuss this, but I've done that button several times with no avail.

Right now it's "Can the Green Lantern take Batman? What about Superman versus The Hulk. Find out here." I feel this does not represent the board very well.
Perhaps something like "From Marvel to DC, Dark Horse to Devil's Due.
Discuss your favorite comic books and graphic novels here."

I totally agree with umbrax here
apart from that description sounding way to geeky i'm pretty sure those topics have already been discussed
It would be nice to change the description as there are many sub topics that are part of the comics thread

You have posted a gripe exactly ONCE (that is NOT "several times")... I just looked through the logs, AND your points are fixed? (that is NOT "to no avail")

What are you on about?!

Please follow up on this great suggestion, you might just get some good discussions out of it.

The current title does give a very limiting view of what conversations are going to be about in the comics section.

I third this.

I've already put to rest the so and so vs. so and so argument. Superman has scoreboard!!
Unfortunately I'm not as current on comics as some of my fellow members here are so it would be nice to read educated discussion about comics, current and past, and not just about how Spiderman beat Superman because he was wearing a Kryptonite jockstrap.

Good suggestion Umbrax!

Peace

That is all for now
.

I gotta agree with my buddy Umbrax, I don't feel that the current title of the Forum currently reflects what the is going on in that particular forum as of now, and the kind of meaningful (Yet fun and relaxing) topics and discussion that take place there. I frequent Many comic boards and that titles comes across like a rumbles forum. Where people only post about scenerios of diffrerent superheroes and how they would fare against each other in a hypothetical fight.

It would be the equivelant of having the description of the crypto forum being......

"who would win the fight? Big foot or E.T. , See how the Lochness monster would fair against a giant squid."

When you actually look at whats inside, Its more a discussion and reviews on comics, upcoming movies, Interesting links to online comics , Even people talking about their favorite comic strips.(which are different than comic books
)

I'm probably One of the biggest Comic geeks on this board, But i didnt' Dare enter it for a long time because I feared it was just your average Rumbles Pit.

Of course now Its usually the first and last place I check out before I log in and off this site.

There is nothing wrong with updating descriptions to forums, I feel its time to update the descriptoin for this particular one.

And I do like Umbrax's particular description

"From Marvel to DC, Dark Horse to Devil's Due.
Discuss your favorite comic books and graphic novels here."

But keep Superman's icon I have no complaints there

Majic is not currently a member of the ATS COuncil, you may have seen his title is still in place but that is just until SO has time to sort things out.

Howdy folks! TRG checking in here via ~TYPE~ instead of just reading....

The Council is the MOUTHPEICE for the mebership, we can NOT do a thing about points.......sorry, we have to earn our own points as well, we do not get ANY extra points for sitting in Council to represent the membership. I swear if I could give out points I surley would lol............many of you good posters deserve them! Sadley though they MUST be earned, so keep it up you will see your point count climb for sure!
Anytime a person uses the complaint/gripe button...it is recorded and counted....MANY folks see this and rush to aid the complainer or the idea person, this button is NEVER IGNORED....NO WAY on this site who's motto it is to DENY IGNORANCE....no members troubles are EVER ignored, be they confusion or or feeling not listened to, Councilors or Moderators ALWAYS answer any person via u2u or Email, if not publicly on the board....

If you need an ear please feel free to Email myself, or ANY of the Council member, and I PROMISE you if we can not personally deal with the issue ourselves we FIND the person who can, and get back to you ASAP...........this is HOW ATS works, it a member driven site........and making sure all members are having the BEST experiance here, keeping with the terms & conditions......you have an EAR...we DO listen to you, for YOU are what ATS is all about.

Thanks TRG, I couldnt have said it better myself. Members we are here to listen to you when you are in need. All the time, every time. NOBODY is ever left behind on this. It doesnt matter if 100 people hit the gripe/idea button, it is ALWAYS listened to.

Rebekka, this is an excellent idea. It would be great to use the power of a community as active as ATS for something good. I think by outing those who would twist history or manipulate information to do bad things (promoting hate included) the ATS community could have a very powerful effect on the global community.
It might be time for us to take responsibility for the energy we bring to ATS and do something good with it.

The Tale Of The Half-Councilor

That's from the Complaints forum. I was letting the staff know what forums I could (and couldn't) access as I transitioned from a Councilor back to the sacred bliss of basic membership.

Basically, for a brief time, I could Applaud/Alert and see the Complaints forum, but couldn't access the Council forum or Staff and Council Pub and wanted to let people know that.

The title reflects that “Half-Councilor” status in my typical style.

Now I'm a basic member again -- well, with access to the Collaborative Fiction forums as a Writer, of course -- and it feels good to be able to focus on just being a member again.

If there's one thing above all else being a Councilor taught me, it is how awesome the benefits of simply being an ATS member are.

I enjoyed being a Councilor (although it ate up time I wanted to spend on other things, to be honest) and consider it a wonderful phase of my ATS career, but I am very happy to at last be able to get back to being a member and doing all those things I've been wanting to do.

I never before realized how nice it is to be Just Plain Majic, and now I do.

Next Up

Meanwhile, congratulations to the Second Session of the Council for getting the Charter up! I knew it wouldn't take long after I got out of the way.

I am very pleased to see the Council revitalized and ready to take on its next tasks. These things take time, and “patience is Counciled”, but I'm expecting great things from this new session.

As always, I urge my fellow members to take advantage of what the Councilors can do for you.

Remember, their primary job is no more nor less than to represent YOU at AboveTopSecret.com. They are chosen by you, are accountable to you, and they can be replaced by you.

In other words, they work for you, and I recommend keeping them busy.

The Fabulous Forum

As before, new forums are the most common requests. As before, I recommend caution with respect to adding new forums.

There are already so many that I seriously doubt any member keeps up with all of them, and while the ATS family of websites covers a lot of turf, I still believe it is important to remember our roots when considering any changes to them.

Also, remember that the Council represents members and makes requests and recommendations to the senior staff, but that nothing will happen without the subsequent approval and action of the senior staff.

This can be frustrating, but it is a good system and a very important aspect of the Council dynamic. The will of the membership is very important on ATS and highly respected by the senior staff.

However, only the senior staff knows “the rest of the story” when it comes to running ATS, and there is a lot more to it than anyone other than the senior staff can know. ATS is big, does a lot, is complicated and must be managed very, very carefully.

My point is to hopefully help my fellow members to not be too upset if we don't suddenly see a dozen new forums pop up suddenly.

Hey, they may, but if they don't, I hope you can understand.

Sincerely,

Majic
Ex-Councilor
Writer
ATS Fanboi

A while back, I posted a proposal with the Collaborative Fiction wishlist in the Council forum prior to the end of my term.

A copy of what I posted in Council can be found at the end of the following thread, which chronicles the process:

Discussion: The Future Of The Collaborative Fiction Forum

Councilor brodband now has the ball, and I'm sure it's in good hands.

As has been discussed before, administrative action to make the changes to the forum we want will probably not happen soon, mainly as a matter of priorities for the admin staff.

However, they are aware of what we want, and I am hopeful that when the time is right, CF will get some lovin'.

Until then, don't forget our beloved Goddess of Writing, worldwatcher. Though her powers aren't infinite (she's a moderator, not an admin), she takes good care of the writers and wants you to be happy.

As for the Council portion of all that, I now consider the bag o' cats officially dropped in brodband's lap.

Cats EVERYWHERE.

So, brodband, as our duly elected official, what do you think of the proposals outlined by the former administration of our free and bountiful northern forum, what with its crops of stories wot are deliciousness incarnate?

Also, WW is doing a great job. mad props to her for keeping the forum together, and encouraging epic affairs like the Great Challenge.

It's better than anything on Fox, really.

Anyways, brodband...how will you support the proposals put forward?
