I just wanted to discuss my own experiences with the base in Montauk...
First, let me reveal that I have been there several times... In fact, my first visit predates William One Sac's visit by a few years. I have over the
years repeatedly visited and can report that in the last few years the base has changed significantly from my first visit.
At one time, much of the base was fairly undisturbed, but many of the buildings today no longer exist. I have not been back in at least three
years.
The following are a list of the buildings or locations I have fully explored on the base...
Helipads
Bowling Alley
Mess Hall
Gymnasium
Barracks 1, 2 & 3
Utility Building
Bunkers (...much to my dissatisfaction, outside only...yup, they have been sealed up many times...)
Radar Tower and associated buildings....
Several Administrative Buildings....
I'm sure a few others....
Aside from always being drawn to the place, I never had any experience that I thought strange or out of the ordinary...other than the few times I
needed to avoid the SINGLE law enforcement officer posted at the base...
There is perhaps one strange thing...
In the untility building, there were hundreds of pounds of commercial airliner documents (as far as I could tell, mostly related to maintence logs and
an odd amount related to food items...Delta, I think, or AA... can't remember...) dumped inside. I have always thought that odd, but as that was my
first visit, I did not take the time to come to some conclusion about the documents...
I'd be glad to answer any questions...
