Cemetary or Flu?

I recently started collecting EVP's at a local cemetary long known in the community to be haunted. After successfully capturing two whisper EVP's on the first visit, I returned every day for the next four days to capture more. Starting on the second day I began to have a severe headache during my visit, and became drained of energy. By the fourth day I became quite ill with headache, fever, chills, and muscle spasm in my right arm and hand. This illness lasted for several days and am just now recovering. I have wrote this off as a flu bug I picked up. At the same time I can't help but wonder if I didn't have a run in with some negative energy while pursuing the collection of EVP's. I would like to return to this cemetary tommorrow as conditions look favorable for activity, but am rather hesitant. Thought I would get some other ideas on the wisdom and safety of returning.

hmm i have heard that sometimes going in to situations where there may be negitive energy that people can become ill and feel drained,

so hard to know, this could just be a flu or it could be the affects of your adventure to the cemetary,

i would suggest that you really look in to this to make sure you are protected, what precautions do you take to protect yourself from bad energy?

im no expert but i think at the least you should carry some form of crystal or the age old thing of thinking of yourself in a bubble of light before you enter the cemetary,

im sure others here will have a bit more info for you,

heres a few ideas i have found around the net,

Enter the site and either privately or as a group ask for blessing or protection for the duration of the hunt. YOu can use this time to put yourself in a positive frame of mind. It does not have to be a religious thing so everyone can do this in some way. I do encourage everyone to take the 10 seconds this takes and do this. What can it hurt? It's better to be safe than sorry. Many experienced groups believe that there are evil spirits in many areas such as cemeteries and by saying a 10 second prayer or making sure you are in a positive frame of mind you can safely go about your business without worrying about them. An experienced demonologist will tell you that by doing this in the name of God or whatever good deity you worship, you will keep any non human spirits at bay since they have to leave you alone when told so in this manner

Say a prayer of protection.


As you are saying the prayer, visualise a shower of the purest white light from heaven pouring over your whole being. (See it as either fine droplets of white light, or as a cleansing ray of light).


Visualise this light filling your body, cleansing your body of darkness, and creating a barrier or capsule of impenetrable white light around you.

Well, maybe it can be both.

I'm not sure about what i'm about to say, i'm just guessing, but... As long as i knokw, spirits need some energy to establish a contact in our world. Usually they take it from the "operator" (in this case, you). In a cemetary there are probably LOTS of spirits. So it is possible that a LOT of energy has been drained from you.

When you're low on energy, your body defenses are weaker, so you are more likely to get ill, and every illness may grow stronger than normal.

Just a supposition, but could this be some kinda explanation?

Imo there would be hardly any spirits in a cemetary. They think like us, why would they haunt a cold miserable place full of gravestones ?

They tend to come back to houses and places that they enjoyed in life.

Also in a gaveyard they are laid to rest. Nothing eventfull happened there, and they probably had never in their life time visited that cemetary b4 in the physical body. So why haunt it ?

Maybe because they aren't ready yet to part from their body? Maybe because they haven't realyzed or accepted they are dead, and so keep trying to get back in their body...

Could be, but u have a proper burial. It's not like your body is dumped on the side of the road.

Most psychics say the same about graveyards being empty of spirits...well not as many as people believe. It's more human fear in a graveyard, because we make ourselves scared thinking that there are bodies under neath our feet.

All i know is i aint gona go bk to a smelly dark graveyard when i die. Actually come to think of it, my body wont be there. It would have been roasted in an incinerator

There is reason for the member to believe there is activity in that grave yard,

I guess its also about how old the graves there are, the area, what was there before? ect ect

Yea, I used to think that.......now a cemetary is in my back yard. It is hardly what one would call normal around here. All my neighbors say the same. It took a good 2 years before any of us would talk about it because we didnt want anyone to think we were crazy. LOL

Amuisn, I'm thinking it was not negative energy. If it was an evil spirit, you would have come down with the chills first. Im talking the chills so bad you cant walk or talk. It is almost painfull. IMO, if you didnt have a fever with it, I am wondering if it wasnt due to the equipment you were using.

Well, I still think it was probably the flu, but the point about maybe an energy drain weaking my immune system was interesting. I foolishly haven't been using any form of protection. I plan on continuing with the investigation tommorrow and will include this. With the moon phase and recent M class flare I want to see if there is some rise in activity at this location. Some historical research I've done on the person whose mausoleum I'm capturing the EVP's at has given them credibility, and am eager to continue with this investigation.

Be careful out there. You are opening yourself (and I know you it) to powers so stong they they can harm. I think maybe the only thing you can do is maybe burn a couple of white candles before you leave and surround yourself with nothing but white light. That may help some. Just be careful. We sure don't want anything to happen to ya.
