You be the judge...

Audio (Look for "Bush with Kilgore" heading, if the Audio does not immediately launch.)

I have listened to this many times. Moreover, I have had others listen to it as well. We all agree this is not just a voice exhibiting fatigue or hoarseness, but actual impairment.

Thoughts?

BTW: Here are some other threads touching upon the general issue of Bush drinking. Regardless of what you think, it can not be argued that there has not been a sea-change in the manner that Bush presents himself. Sometimes the simplest and most obvious explanation is the correct one.

Does Bush Need a Dermatologist or is he just Plastered?

Bush's Booze Crisis

Where has the political shrewdness of Bush's administration gone?

Dubyaspeak! Not really about his drinking, but how else can you explain what he says?

Well, he seems 'impaired' to me. He almost knocked Laura over as he slammed his arm around her shoulder after he got out of the plane in front of her. Is that normal?

Anyway, yeah, I think we're going to be seeing more and more of these 'questionable' situations as time goes by.

But I do think it's going to take some more 'blatant' situations for his supporters to be convinced. But I think they'll happen. I just hope no one gets hurt.

Good catch on the arm... I didn't even notice that!
You are sooooo right! Looks like he's slinging a dead fish over her shoulder.

putting an arm around yer wife dont mean yer drunk. even if the arm looks like its slinging dead as u say. its just like putting arm over yer girlfrend and relaxing with yer hand hanging.

I watched his speech on Veterans Day. His voice was slightly slurred.

I do not believe he is drunk. What I DO think is happening is that he
is drugged up for some reason. I betchya' his doctors (at the request
of Cheney) put him on something so he wouldn't get all emotional at
the Veterans Day speech. He has a habit of getting all teary eyed and
what have you.

I think he's being drugged by 'his own' in the White House.

Actually, I listened to that speech. There, he appears sober. In fact, that speech serves as an excellent example from which to compare the Kilgore speech. Notice how clearly he enunciates in this one compared to the other? The difference is dramatic!

He pronounced most things alright. But his 's' were thick.

I was thinking at the time that he was probably on some
relaxers or something. No big deal, considering what some
other presidents have been on (and into).

I HIGHLY doubt he was drunk. The White House and Cheney
(who is really runnning things) wouldn't tolerate it.

Apparently, I am not the only who thinks so....

Bush's impairment

Well ... it can't be just 'slipped dentures' if he's hanging onto the
First Lady to be able to stand up.

I remember when Kerry was on TV ... PLASTERED ... it was during
the campaign. Man ... there was no mistaking it. The booze was
everywhere so you knew exactly what drug (alcohol) he had
abused.

G.W.?? I'm still going with that his people are giving him relaxers
of some kind. They are trying to keep him out of trouble and
keep him from saying things they don't want him to say.

Interesting reading the links! Thanks.

I wouldn't be surpiresed if they have him on some kind of anti-anxiety medication.

Yep, anxiolitics and/or antidepressants would be my bet.

Those drugs, from my own experience, can have all kinds of side-effects depending upon what dosage, antidepressant type or type of anxiolitic is in operation, and in what combination.

If The Prez is experiencing enormous stress levels, as is probable, his docs may have been running him through various regimens for some time now, trying to find the right combination of meds. Or changing them as the pressures increase...

Problem with those meds is that there can be significant "acclimatization" periods, while the subject's body tries to adjust to the chemistry change. And, if a particular regimen doesn't work, you normally have to allow a certain "tapering down" period before you can start the whole process over with a new regimen.

And the side-effects, depending on the drugs involved, can be very, very bad until the subject adjusts to them. Some may never go away unless the regimen is terminated. Effexor (Venlaflaxin) is particularly notorious for this.

If they have been doing this with him for some time (say, after the 9/11 attack) it could account for some of his long vacations--opportunities to adjust to new regimens while being somewhat sequestered from the public eye.

I suppose I gravitate towards this explanation because I just don't want to think that our Commander-in-Chief is drunk at the helm while American soldiers are being blown apart in Iraq and Afghanistan.

If it turns out that he is drinking heavily on the job, then I believe some serious jail time is in order (with the appropriate therapies for substance abuse, of course).

Added this: Ya' know, I looked at that video again, and maybe he's just breaking down.

Or drunk

I dunno... .

Could it be that he was extremely giddy,
about speaking in a place called Kil-Gore?

Really though..Maybe he was just plain exhausted?

Hearing what some of the rich of this country have done before, I'm sure he's done wrost than AJ(the blonde one on the far left of my avatar) of BSB. So being drunk wouldn't surprise me.

I don't see any evidence that he appeared drunk or on any other kind of drugs. This is a pitifull attempt at grasping for straws to try to put down the President.

If the guy is so bad I would think that surely that something better than this could have been come up with.

This is nonsence.
