Someone help me out here. I keep looking at the "No Tresspassing Sign" photos taken at Area 51 and I know it says "The use of deadly force is authorized." Yet no one to my knowledge has ever been shot at or killed. Is that sign there to scare you or do they really mean to kill you if you cross?

Interesting question. Wondered about it myself before.

I'm guessing that they have intercepted everyone so far and escorted them off the property or at least scared them enough to leave.

But what if someone does get in and actually sees something of note? Would they then shoot them and make them disappear? Has it happened?

Dead men don't tell lies, they don't say anything.

Well they are authorised to shoot and kill you if you intend to actually get into the box.
If you just drive nearby the signs they will keep an eye on you, and if you come to close they(the cammo dudes) will either ask you to eave, or call the county sherrif, and you will get a fine (I believe $500,-).

So they are placed to scare off people, but they deffinately have permission to shoot invaders!

A small private plane in trouble landed on the area51 runway once. The pilot was forced to sign a contract he wasn't allowed to talk about anything he had seen.

Do you have any links to this Zion? Was just curious, I hadn't heard about it before. Can you imagine how he must have felt? (especially if he knew where he was about to land!!)

Just imagine if someone did cross, got shot and died. I'm sure the family of that person would start to get worried about where that person is after several days if the government didn't tell them. That would be horrible. Or would they?

Let's just say the gov't did tell them. They would probably threaten the familiy telling them not tell the media where the family member got shot. Kind of makes you wonder. Huh?

I Think it's a valid warning. My Guess is they really aren't out to kill tresspassers but they are warning you that they have that right. It works kinda like a cop, they carry a gun and they can kill you if they need to, but they reserve that option as a last resort.

I think the standard protocol for fighter scrambling is two F-16's up whenever a plane or jet is within five miles of the know fly zone.
I'll tell you for sure, the jets are fully armed, I've got "contacts" who can vouch for that...

As to the sign, I'm sure they'd shoot you.
If you were in my house I'd shoot you.
Those guys practically live there...

Ummmm......

If someone got killed by trespassing, I doubt you'd hear much about it. I mean, if they dead, they ain't talkin. Besides, most people that trespass there are not the kinds that tell 80 friends, I'm going to area 51 today, If I don't make it back, they killed me.

i doubt the families would ever know what happend
dont even think they would get a body back
they probably cover the whole deal up

who knows how many people got shot for trespassing
they can cover up what really happends over there why wouldnt they be able to cover up a dead body from a curious person
