The average lifespan of a year is around 72 years, right?
(we'll just pretend it's seventy two for now on)

Example 1
Let's say Jim (14 years old) kills Clarissa (19 years old).
Jim deprived Clarissa of 53 years of life, therefore. Jim owes 53 years in prison.

Example 2
Mark (26 years old) kills Herman (59 years old).
Mark took away 13 years of Herman's life, yet thirteen years is not enough time in prison.
You will always recieve a minimim of twenty year for murder.

Example 3
Ali (50 years old) kills Max (93 years old).
Ali still gets 20 years in prison.

Example 4 (kids)
Johnny (5 years old) kills Cartman (2 years old).
You take Johnny's age (5) and subtract it from 12.
Now divide the years Cartman lost (70) by 7 (12-5) and you get 10.
Johnny owes 10 years in prison.

What does everyone think?
Perfect?
Superb?
Acceptable?
Plausible?
Not happening?
Impossible?

That means we'll all be killing rich old people. Further more it can't be argued taht someones life was going to end at 72 years old, esp. if a doctor says other wise.

Intense consuling and individually structured environments are the answer, not prision.

Not happening

Also, who's going to pay for all these extra years of having prisoners in the cells.

I have no feelings on the death penalty either way.

Counseling is too much work.
If there is a "zero tolerance" policy, there will be no crime.
Plus there wouldn't be any of that 1st degree or 2n degee murder...

Muder is Murder

We need a set policy.

Are you trying to say that killing someone older is less of a crime than killing someone younger?

What about killing more than one person?

I don't understand how this is a solution for anything.

NO,

minimum penalty of 20 years except for minors (12 and under, not 18 or whatever)

Well killing old rich people does have some appeal connected to it that is dark and disturbing but also seems appropriate for some strange reason.

I do not support killing people though, not even as a death penalty. I do however believe that a convicted killer, rapist, child molester, seriously abusive attacker, and certain attempted murderers have no place in a society and those guilty parties should recieve Life in Prison. Those who on special cases have a chance to get back out and join the populous would also have to truely be a changed person as well. Our prison system now does no good whatsoever. It only takes criminals and molds them into disturbed angry criminals with more underground talents and contacts.

Consuling is worth all the work required. Prision is a monster factory feeding on the weak and producing repeat criminals. Prision does not work. period.

Ok,
This is gonna sound really familiar to our WWII vets and W. History majors, but prisons could be so much more.
Prisons should basically be work farms.
It's that simple, the should feed themsleves.
There would be no early readmission to society of this getting out early.
Extensions may be addedd for unimproved or rebellios behavior.

Fry em all !!!! THAT IS THE SOLUTION TO THE DEATH PENALTY
Deep fry em to a crackly crunch. Punks run around with guns because the penalty is not yet severe enough to deter them.

There are currently 83 countries that retain and use the death penalty. Of those China, the Democratic Republic of Congo, the United States and Iran are the most prolific executors. Only six countries, including the United States, execute juveniles (18 or under at the time the crime was committed). The others are Iran, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Yemen.

Keeping some good company there...

The U.S currently keeps death row prisoners under threat of imminent execution for months or years at a time; something which obviously goes against the doctrine of 'cruel of unusual punishment'. Along with this the U.S (some states, I'm not sure if all) have the 'three strikes and your out' rule which can see someone jailed for 20+ years for stealing a pack of chewing gum.

This year the U.S hit a record peak of 2million+ prisoners.

Ohhhh yeah. Corporal punishment works alright.

I belive we should be tough on crime, very tough. Death however is not the answer.
