Exactly - so they are not being scientific about it. That's my whole point. It's a sham of an excuse so they can run around playing Ghost Busters, and get paid for the privilege.

I'm not dismissing it because it's on TV - there are PLENTY of TV shows that use real, rigorous science. I'm dismissing it because they're a bunch of jokers playing scientists with no clue.

And of course the scientific method can demonstrate the paranormal. If you, as a person, can detect it, so can instrumentations. Of course I realise that old chestnut of an argument - 'science can never prove it' - is something you like, as it nicely explains (to you, and anyone else uninterested in reason) why their beliefs haven't been verified in a controlled environment.

Having a dowser and demonologist on their team is a massive indictment of their scientific accumen, as both are based on complete unfounded nonsense. If you went to a doctor and he tried to diagnose an ailment using a giant foam hand, you'd probably doubt his credentials in everything else he did - and you'd be right to. The exact same thing is happening here, only you are under the assumption that a giant foam hand is a medical instrument.

So please, be objective. Deny ignorance.

It most certainly is fake. The number of videos where the crew have been caught out is staggering, and hilarious. Like where they get Derek to say anagrams of "Derek is a Faker", etc., and videos of people pushing things around and then claiming a ghost did it. Absolutely pathetic.

I think somewhere along this thread wires have been crossed.

This thread was started three years ago, when Derek Acorah was set up by Dr Ciaran O'Keeffe, after he suspected, that the psychic was acting during his many alleged possessions by Spirits.

Now i cant remember the names used because it was so long ago, but the event went something like this, the intentionally stood where Derek Acorah could listen if he wanted to, and spoke about a non existent story about a Spirit haunting the place they where investigating, they used two anagrams as the names of the Spirits, im sure one of them was an anagram for Derek lies, and I'm unsure about the other to attempt to explain it.

Anyhow Derek Acorah fell for it and became possessed by the anagrams.

Living Tv who produce the show whee told as where the shows presenters, Yvette fielding, and her husband Karl Beattie, Derek decided to leave the show, but his contract to Living TV was still valid, so they gave him his own show called Derek Acorahs Ghost Towns, this show was about him traveling from town to town, investigating domestic hauntings in peoples homes,

I think his show has fizzled out now, but Most Haunted is still going, in fact it is having its spin off Most Haunted Live over the last few nights, last one being tonight if i remember right, 31/08/2008.

When i said at the start of this post that the thread had become twisted, what i meant was, it changed from talking about Most Haunted to Talking and associating the show with TAPS.

TAPS is an American show called Ghost Hunters, set around two men who work as plumbers, and during their spare time, they get invited to investigate haunted places with a small team, they have a huge fan base, and this has grown into other teams using the TAPS Logo.

More recently there has been a spin off called Ghost Hunters International, which i am not sure about its popularity.

Im also not sure what T.A.P.S stands for sorry.

IMO Most Haunted does use artistic license to make the show more entertaining, and I'm sure several times they have used trickery, the obvious trickery is always around, Karl Beattie, and Stuart ???? sorry can't remember his Surname, and IMO Stuart acts way over the top for someone investigating the Paranormal.

Ghost Hunters IMO is more professional looking, but still, i feel embarrassed for them sometimes, they line up like school kids during their live shows during breaks, i think it makes them look daft sorry, as for their investigations, they are too short, I will tell you though, the guy with the bald head, the leader of TAPS, thet guy is fearless, ive only ever seen him jump once or twice, and that makes the British show Most Haunted team look like little girls.

Just to add, Most Haunted is run by a company called Antix productions, this company is owned by Yvette Fielding, and Karl Beattie, the presenters of the show, also they have just started their own TV channel called the Paranormal channel, on cable here in the UK, right now it looks a little cheap, really old shows and a ton of repeating already aired shows, but everything has to start somewhere.

Anyhow thats all i know about Most Haunted, and Ghost Hunters, out of the two, Ghost Hunters is more professional, Most Haunted needs less Karl and Stuart antics, a lot less screaming, and they need to stop bleeping everything out, you can't hear a word for bleeps its shown at a time when bleeps shouldn't be needed, and we are all grown ups, if people don't like the language they can switch channels, all that bleeping ruins it IMO, less self important presenters, and sound back on their live show web cams. IMHO.

These shows covered in this thread are nothing but Entertainment, they tried to be scientific 5 years ago, but nothing was good enough to pass the test.

I think it is now directed at the Late night adult family members, who want to just sit as a family, and enjoy TV, and as long as they enjoy it then thats fine IMO.

My mum used to love watching it, i even used to record it for her when she was in the Hospice where she died peaceful and happy, I;m also certain there are many many little old ladies out there who love these shows, its their excitement , their way of being scared in the safety of their own homes, which i think is wonderful.

The people who watch these shows most of them know its TV, and they know it's a way of them joining in, and that is wonderful too.

Everybody is doing this stuff now, it's a great way for friends to get together and go have a night of Ghost Hunting, i know I've done it myself, we didn't take it all that seriously, even though some of us got scared, and that is what it was about, socializing and doing something other than going and getting drunk, its cheap it's fun and there lots of hugging going on.

Let the Scientist do it their way now, and let the people do it theirs, to be honest i don't think the average viewer cares about evidence anymore, as long as they get a little suspense.

Entertainment is all it is, you can't do Scientific with all those people around in the TV crew.

yes these show are for entertainment purposes only!!!! Its called Television... and who ever comes up with shows on TV that are in commercial channels tend to go for the shows that are going to rake in the viewers and by doing so control the content of each episode.

Good that people watch these shows and are shown "spritual" aspects of what goes on, even though its hyped and/or fake. Coverage of this stuff is a must so that more people can be at least in the know about spiritual aspects of the world. The source fake or not, its a starting point i guess...

Bad thing is when its fake people tend to believe the "real" deals are fake too...

I am a believer of most haunted but this saying that they see things like ghosts on the web cams is not real its a truse to get there name on the TV I tryed it and never once got my name mentioned to tell the truth i never ever seen anything on the web cams but said i did just to see if my name would come up half the time the people were asking the other to marry them or saying happy birthday nothing to do with most haunted wich was silly after reading what some are saying about mosthaunted being a fake im so very unhappy

have to say yvette did it for me when she started doignt eh ghost hunting with celebraties
all it was, was huge egos cussing and swearing for an hour mum watched it when it was on itv but i cant stand it makes ghost hunting look tacky.

and most haunted is rubbish now, have you guys watched the live one theres more commerials than actual programme something stupid like 45 minutes of show and 3 hours of commerial and as soon as some thing supposedly happens they cut to commerial

no i hate that to unfortuantly my mother loves that programme to and made me go to one of there shows god it was so painful watching the really bad acting.
nothing worse than watching a person trying to be serious while their breasts bob up and down trying to look tough and thats just the men

Ive thought so since it first aired. Anyways, the best Ghost Hunting show- by far- is Ghost Adventures on the travel channel- beats paranormal state by a long shot.

I think I came to that conclusion after the first time I saw the show...not hard to see that it was pretty much fabricated...over acting...that one dude always getting "possessed"...I mean...really???
