WASHINGTON - An unidentified man who claimed to have a suspicious device in his car was taken into custody close to the Capitol on Friday, and police cordoned off several streets as a precaution, officials said.
Brian Doyle, a spokesman for the Department of Homeland Security, said hazardous materials teams had been dispatched to the site. “We don’t know if it’s an explosive device,” he said.
