NEWS: Body Found in Glacier Believed to be WWII Airman

Two climbers found a body frozen into a glacier on Mount Mendel in Kings Canyon National Park. The body is believed to be a crewman who is missing from a crash in 1942. An effort is underway to recover the body and identify him.



Considering that there are still over 88,000 US Military personel still listed as missing this is an amazing find. I have to wonder with the ice caps receeding because of so called "Global Warming" what other secrets will be revealed by the ice. Remember the P-38 aircraft that was recovered in the 90's from under 200 feet of Arctic ice was able to be restored to flying condition.

In the Arctic regions alone there has to be hundreds if not thousands of human remains and pieces of lost equipment.
Some of these could go back thousands of years. What if some of these remains are released from the ice and still have viable bacteria and viruses that we no longer have immunity from. These coulsd make the Avian Flu look like a common cold, because they would already be adapted to humans.

It's always good to hear good news. Anyways, hopefully some lucky family out there will get this good news, if anything a little closure will come out of this.

Wow this is definatly an interesting article. Perhaps we'll with the melting ice caps we'll find even more stuff thats been lost. I figure if we're going to screw ourselves over we may as well learn a bit about history while we're at it.

Either way maybe we should send more expiditions up north. Of course this is starting to sound a bit like Captain America.

I saw this on the tv last night and thought it was pretty interesting. Good Find.

That was one of the most interesting news I heard this morning after 60 years the poor man will find a place to finally rest and be indetify, I hope is surviving family members to take care of his final resting place.

You mean once global warming has melted all the ice the Ancient outpost will be uncovered? Yay now we don't have to use the rings to melt the ice!
