Using Google Earth, I discovered a formation of "dots" north of Area 51.
These are the approximite coordinates for it:
Northwestern Corner: 37 40' 45.19" N; 115 51' 46.55 W
Southeastern Corner: 37 37' 11.48" N; 115 45' 00.16 W
It appears to be 19 circles arranged in a 9x8 grid, with a smaller circle and a larger circle to the southeast, with the larger circle missing 1/4 of it, and the smaller circle appearing to have the same area as the missing quarter of the larger circle.

I have no idea what this is supposed to mean, but I know that it's big.

I took the image from an altitude of 34257 ft.

Here is a USGS fact sheet on the practice.
These are irrigation practices used in arid areas of the world.
The green areas have a water sprinkler at the center making the crop field circular.

That explains the size of it. I guess not everything is what it seems to be.

I'm probably going to rename this thread, but I have no idea about what to rename it to.

Don't feel bad, phoenix314...you're not the first person at ATS to see those circles on Google Earth and wonder what they are.

I've noticed them when I was scanning the desert areas of the Middle East as well as Portugal and Africa. I bet they show up fairly easily from space, making the Greys put on the brakes as they're zipping by our planet.

But what about that 3/4 circle in the corner?

Also, how do they irrigate an area with half-mile radii?

www.tlirr.com...

Thats easy...first of all, if you look at the link I provided, and go through some of the other pages, you'll see a rig on wheels that rotates around a central pivot. This system cam account for the hal-mile radius.
The 3/4 circle in the corner, if you look closely, has a road going by it. You would not want to waste your water on the road, so, you set your irrigator to 'fan' back and forth, just like a lawn sprinkler.

Yes these are not geoglyphs they are for irrigation. If you fly over the south west of the U.S. you will see them all over. I have flown to Arizona a good deal and when you fly there from Illinois you go over many of these irrigation circles.
