The real question on impeachment is whether the House and the Senate will go for it, as demonstrated by the lack of effect of public impeachment
opinion polls on the actions of said Congress. Given where the majority rests and the defensive, polarized political posture of that majority, any
investigation, much less outright impeachment process of the President seems highly unlikely at this point.
Perhaps many heads will role (is that too strong a metaphor?) as the subpoenas and indictments make their way up the CofC, and the VP (and maybe even
the SofS) will most probably get their's long before the buck stops at the CINC. That's one big if and an indeterminate when.
