Can This be Made!

OKAY. this will be interesting.
okay. there is this japanese manga called AIR GEAR by oh great!. its excellent and its about inline skaters who use skates that have motorized wheels. the skates also have air cushion suspension and blah blah. the speed depends on how much force you apply downward onto the wheels or something like that. well anyways. can this be made?

i mean. i havent done any research yet to try and answer my own question, but a little motor strong enough to propell a human being seems far out. in the manga the move quite fast, but its obviously fantasy, but what about thirty to fourty mph? could that be possible too? if the skates themselves are even plausible

I wouldn't want to take a spill wearing them, besides the price is a bit steep.

I've seen a minature jet engine power a bar stool at 40mph at a novelty race on an IHRA track once, anything's possible.

Like Rebostar said though, taking a spill on them would suck majorly. Can you imagine crashing on skates at 30-40mph?

Better not hit a stick...
