Glitch in Google earth?

In google earth I was searching around.
I was scrolling from Australia to LA,CA and found some Islands in nowhere and thought wow cool and zoomed in. My pointer said 1 55'09.64" N 157 26'43.37" W and zoomed in more it says Christmas Island Airport. What the!? So I searched Christmas Island Airport on the net and all maps show the island NW of Australia not east of it. Waaaaay east.
I wrote a bug report to Google about it and will update if they reply. with a real reply instead of
"If you are inquiring about available Katrina Hurricane imagery, please
visit: earth.google.com..."
