I was just curious to know if the Amityville house was still standing on Long Island, New York. Are there people still living in it? Is it still haunted? Do any New Yorkers here know? Thanks.

Yes, it is still standing. I dont think the current owners have made any claims about paranormal phenomenon there, and I also think that the owners who made the claims of supernatural activity were hoaxers, capitilizing on the horrific events that occurred there, Ronald DeFeo murdered his parents and 4 younger brothers and sisters while they slept. Interesting you brought this up as they are planning on making a new film about the murders and the alleged hauntings that took place there.

In 1974 in a house in Amityville, N.Y., Ronald DeFeo murdered his parents and four siblings while they slept. What made the house infamous was a 1977 account written by Jay Anson that claimed the family who bought the house after the DeFeos' demise was tormented by a series of bizarre and bloody supernatural events.

I was going to add this earlier, but thought better of it, and now have decided to go ahead and tell it. When I was around 16 years old (many moons ago) we went to the Amityville Horror House (As it was known) and rang the doorbell and ran! In my juvenille mind I almost felt like a celebrity! However, in retrospect I wish I hadnt done it, those people got harrassed by everyone on Long Island due to the houses notoriety, everything from annoying pranks to people throwing stuff at the house. Really a shame.

I wouldnt wanna live in it. Even if the paranormal activity was all made up, the fact that there were 4 bloody murders in it would put most people off. What is its value on the market? Is it cheap?

Why would you not wanna live in it? Just cause people died in it? Or murdered. Someone was killed in my house. The house is nice and drafty all the time but really thats it. No ghosts or spirits or flies.
Its a pretty cool expierience. People die everyday. horrible deaths infact. If you like the house buy it. you can always have an excorsist come in and "clean'.

Now that was lame. Sorry, you may think it's "cool" but I'd rather be able to enjoy the company today of that person who was murdered (and was really important to me) instead of living in a "house where someone died" because it's suposedly a "cool" experience.

Personally I would not go with 100 miles of that house.

About 5 Years ago I read the book the brought out, and it was all very creepy.

But the thing that really got me was the drawing one of the kids had made of what she had seen, and for some reason everytime I see that drawing, every hair on my body stands on end and I feel sick to the pit of my stomach.

I lived in this "village"... It's not really a village, it's Le bourget, the airport where lindberg land with the spirit of saint louis when he done the first transatlantic flyight, in 1926 if my memory is good.

There is also at Le-Bourget, the famous international Paris-airshow. In 1973 the supersonic Tupolev crashed there... Maybe Amityville malediction...

ABC's Downtown (i dont think its even on anymore) did a spot about amityville - they said basically the owners haven't reported anything unusual but that they took a pic of a weird boy with no eyes. That would be pretty unusual to me.
