On thing I was thinking about was that Katrina and Rita both are hitting Republican states. Would you say that after hurricane Rita, the Republican states will be more Democrat or more Republican afterwards?

Also what population changes do you see occuring? Most of the people effected are going to other major cities to find jobs and probably won't leave. Who do you think is more likely to re-locate, poor people or rich/wealthy people?

Also do you think the hurricane and relief efforts will have any correlation on the next election? More Democrats turning Republican or more Republicans turning Democrat.

I was just wondering what you think about how this may correlate to who the next elected U.S. president is, positive or negative. Or if you think it will have very little to no impact.

Katrina will definitely affect Louisiana politics. The effect in other states will be more or less diluted. It's far too soon to know what the long-term effect will be.
