Bush's Booze Crisis

All I can say is take this story with a lick of salt.
It may very well be true but seeing the infamous National Enquirer has reported it. It could just be a swipe at the POTUS.
All the same though it would not surprise me.

From the Family source who ever that would be, every family has one I guess.

Family sources have told how the 59-year-old president was caught by First Lady Laura downing a shot of booze at their family ranch in Crawford, Texas, when he learned of the hurricane disaster.

His worried wife yelled at him: "Stop, George."

Another source said: "I'm only surprised to hear that he hadn't taken a shot sooner. Before Katrina, he was at his wit's end. I've known him for years. He's been a good ol' Texas boy forever. George had a drinking problem for years that most professionals would say needed therapy. He doesn't believe in it [therapy], he never got it. He drank his way through his youth, through college and well into his thirties. Everyone's drinking around him."

Another source said: "A family member told me they fear George is 'falling apart.' The First Lady has been assigned the job of gatekeeper." Bush's history of drinking dates back to his youth. Speaking of his time as a young man in the National Guard, he has said: "One thing I remember, and I'm most proud of, is my drinking and partying. Those were the days my friends. Those were the good old days!"

I don't believe it's true...who are these sources? The Bush family is very tight and loyal, I seriously doubt a bunch of them would go running off to the National Enquirer to tell them this.

But, I wouldn't blame him if he guzzled down a liter, I certainly would be if I was under the pressure he's been under lately...

You know, I actually feel a great deal of sympathy for the guy. I cannot imagine being under the amount of stress he has in his life. It wouldn't surprise me at all to learn that he's hitting the bottle again. He's an untreated alcoholic. Put that together with the craploads of stress he's under and you've got a pretty volitile situation.

I've often wondered what kind of substance he's consuming just to be able to face his life every day.

As far as sources, it only takes one... Probably Jenna.

Hell yeah... the majority of people if they were president would have a case of beer and a bottle of Jack at their side before invading Iraq. And then after 9/11 I would have gotten so drunk, i would have told them to fly me over to Afganistan and you would see me in the desert screaming for Bin Laden to bring it on.

He, he, I believe it not because I am not a Bush follower but if we see how presidents has bee able to deal with their stress problems we most analyzed all the presidents.

Taking in consideration that Bush weakness is alcohol it seems only natural that he will indulge on the bottler onces in a while.

Perhaps that is why he goes to his Texas ranch so much. . . to take a few drinks so it help him clean his head.

The incident might have happened, but i don't see anything that indicates that the President has a drinking problem, yet. His vacation time is immaterial. The President can't get away from his duties as President, he can only alter his routine and location. The fact is that the President is more focused and resolute now than he ever has been.

Millions of people have a weakness for alcohol and do not indulge.
They indulge in self-control, or turning over their lives to a higher power or whatever works for them.
It is a disservice to those recovering alcoholics to say that they will naturally indulge.

I cannot fathom an lapsing alcoholic being able to function as POTUS.
If it is true, then those who really rule need to step in soon.

My grand father was an alcoholic for 20 years of his life, when he was in his 40's and 50's, he lived until the ripe age of 102.

He got out of the alcohol when he felt like it and got back to it when he felt like it.

He never really stop the drinking rather did not got intoxicate like he did during his 20 years of abuse.

He die with prostate cancer his liver was normal but at his age it was death from natural causes.

Most people that are recovering alcoholic will succumb to it at least onces after their recovery.

And many will just become casual drinkers or will hide it from their families.

I come from an Island that alcohol is a mayor problem with the population because we produce rum and rum is very easy to come by and age is not a factor, so I have seen what it does to families, friends and neighbors.

Most of the homeless people in our islands are alcoholics and they are everywhere in the main areas of the island in public displace of intoxication.

No everybody can get away from it for many its just a life struggle.

I believe that Bush is just on and off of it.

I disagree with this. Some folks do relapse.

And many will just become casual drinkers or will hide it their to their families.

This is NOT true. Once you are an alcohlic, you remain an alcoholic and you cannot stop after the first drink.
If you take thata first drink, you go right back to the last time you were drinking.
There is NO casual drinking for an alcoholic. None. Never. Not.

Those that hide it are only fooling themselves. Those around this sneak usually know the score.

I agree with you once an alcoholic, only a few can get away from it, most of the people and family members that I know had sucumbed to the disease over and over again, and many die from it.

My grandfather never got over his problem he just go better at hiding it.

Would that hold true for smokers and drug addicts too, Marg?

I don't know Seekerof my mother has been a smoker for 40 years, and she still smoking.

If you said is a state of mind, then that is your opinion, I call it a diseases.

I am not a 'recovering' alcoholic. I am an alcoholic. I cannot drink. Period. If Mr. President took a drink.......Well Then he did it on his own. I do not blame him at all. He is under tremendous stress. All ANYONE can say is NOTHING. He may or may not have had a drink or a bottle. But that is HIS personal decision. You may or may not care for President Bush but you need to RESPECT the office, not the man.

Another source who was a close friend of bush in college mentioned how clueless he was with women, and how he could only get close to them if he was hammered. So if his friends know about this drinking 'problem' / conscience choice, who's to say it's not? Us? What do we know? We're always getting second/third hand information, nobody really knows except for the people around him.

I'm not going to say I believe, and i'm not going to say I don't, i'm going to keep an open about this.

He just looks so out-of-it these days. Is he drunk or drugged or is it Mad Cowboy Disease?
