Singer-songwriter Warren Zevon died Sunday (September 7) at age 56. A spokesperson told Billboard.com that, "Zevon had been feeling well of late, and
died peacefully in his home Sunday afternoon. Zevon was found dead after failing to wake from an afternoon nap."
He was diagnosed in August 2002 with mesothelioma--a terminal form of lung cancer usually associated with people who have regularly been exposed to
asbestos--that had already taken root in his liver. There was no early indication about the disease, since Zevon said he hadn't been to a doctor in
some 20 years.
"Unsung" geniuses who know how to have fun and who to aim their digs at are far more valuable than a thousand manufactured boy bands or divas or new
metal bands.
