Changing date and time - can I cause problems?

I don't have a problem, just a question.

PC running Windows XP.

Can I cause any problem by changing the date and time on the PC to something far in the future?

I'm specifically thinking of file access and modification times. I don't want to lose access to them.

Yes you can cause problems. You will change the times on files which you actually modify/read.

Yeah, that's what I was worried about, especially since what I wanted to do was only temporary, and I intended to set the TOD back to normal when I finished.

Along with virus definition files; correlation of Windows components to one antoher [along the lines of file-access]; Internet/eMail time stamping; Windows/3rd party time sync; yadda yadda plenty more. In other words - you want bugs & troubles, change the time.
