Here's something that ought to concern both rescue workers and residents wanting to stay behind in New Orleans.
I have heard from sources both in the military and in the mainstream media that when a rescue worker who is not properly sheilded gets in the flood
waters he is immediately washed off and sent to hospital facilities and further cleaned and put under observation.
Sure the water is filled with raw sewage, chemicals from industry and various petroleum products - all of which represent a health hazzard in the
flooded areas.
What I find most frightening about the flood waters in New Orleans is the chance that real bioweapons grade agents and toxins may have been released
when the bioweapons research facilities at Tulane University were flooded.
Yes there are at least 3 BioSafety Level 3 bioweapons research labs in New Orleans.
According to the National Institute of Health in Washington a "Biosafety Level 3 is applicable to clinical, diagnostic, teaching, research, or
production facilities in which work is done with indigenous or exotic agents which may cause serious or potentially lethal disease as a result of
exposure..."
bmbl.od.nih.gov...
So how do we know these BL3 labs are being used for weapons research and contain some of the most dangerous toxins and diseases known to man?
"Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana is a major biomedical research center. Tulane operates BSL-3 facilities in New Orleans and is a
partner in the Western Regional Center for Biodefense...
Several Tulane scientists have leapt into biodefense studies. These... Tulane scientists are working with anthrax, plague, and other biological
weapons agents."

Anthrax, plague, and other biological weapons agents?!?!?!?
Here is a CDC list of Agents and Toxins that could be released in New Orleans if research laboratories were not adequately secured for the potential
of catastrophic flooding can be found at the following link:
www.cdc.gov...
Of particular concern are large portions of various strains of anthrax.
So how secure were the labs when they were hit by Katrina?
That is not known, but what is known is that
the labs are under 15 feet of water.
Due to Hurricane Katrina, The Blood Center (TBC) is currently inoperable. At last report, TBC’s main facility in the New Orleans Medical
Complex had taken 15-20 feet of water. The flood waters and unsafe working conditions at the site have temporarily suspended normal Blood Center
functions such as testing and component processing.

I find it interesting that there has been no mention of these labs in the national media and yet precautions for very serious toxins are now being
taken for rescue workers in the flooded areas.
Let's hope these little nasties did not make it out into the flow of the flood waters, but at this point nobody knows.
