They have given up hope for more survivors!

NEW ORLEANS, Sept. 9 - New Orleans officials said today that the search and rescue phase of the Hurricane Katrina response had ended, and that police officers would now go to every home in the city to search for dead bodies.
As officials continued to try to convince holdouts to leave the flooded city, Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said that the director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Michael Brown, would return to Washington from the Gulf Coast, where he had been overseeing the federal government's response to the hurricane. Mr. Brown has been criticized for his agency's response to relief efforts, and for lacking substantial experience in responding to disasters.

Resc ure Efforts have Ended in New Orleans

This on top of Brown's dismisal from the Hurricane Relief efforts for being very under-qualified.

The official word from the White House is that Brown has been "re-assigned." TeamBush, of course, may try to make him the scapegoat now that their efforts to blame the Governor and Mayor have largely failed, except for their boot-licking sycophants who keep parotting the administration line that it is all the fault of the local officials---and by boot-licking sycophants I am thinking specifically of Bill O'Reailley, Sean Hannity, and Rush Limbaugh. Brown will probably be the next to take the blame from TeamBush, when it is the job of the President to nominate a qualified FEMA chief in the first palce, and at least check out his resume. Bush still seems to want to find fall guys wherever he can, rather than accepting any responsibility himself.
